What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is very elegant and it is huge. The infrastructure, facilities and laboratories are top notch. The faculty is encouraging and intensively into research activities as well
- A lot of other departments on the campus, helps us interact and bond with students of various streams.
Dislikes
- The campus is located on the outskirts of the city, around 25kms from Central Bangalore. Which makes it tough for day scholars to travel, due to the lack of public transport in that area.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is fairly distributed among the 2 years. The first year broadly covers the course work, and learning of the laboratory techniques. Followed by a mini project and a major project under a professor of interest. Stem cell biology always intrigued me and this course offered exactly what I want. The curriculum focuses on training students very rigorously to make them fit for harsh conditions and situations in the real research world.
Fees and Financial Aid
I pay 400000, per year which comes under the tuition fees and lab fees. There is no such categorical discount on fee structure, all students pay the same amount. Additionally, my university( Manipal institute of Regenerative medicine) provides a 25% scholarship to the topper of the class during the first year.
Campus Life
The campus life is amazing. There are various students from different backgrounds and departments on the big MAHE campus, that sheds institutes of all educational fields. There are multiple sports and cultural fests taking place on campus such as FALAK, RUBAROO etc. Various clubs and social groups are actively functioning on the campus that encourages students to indulge in activities.
Admission
I was majorly interested in cell and developmental biology, and I was always intrigued with the stem cell research that is booming in this area. I did write national level exams and I failed to clear them due to lack of preparation, but nevertheless, I found a perfect institute that offers me facilities and training similar to the national institutes in India. In MIRM, the facult conducts an interview and they look at your UG scores were to judge you and grant you the admission. The interview focuses on your basic knowledge and your ability to solve problems in reasearch areas of your own interest.
Faculty
The faculty is extremely encouraging and interactive with their students. They are well known and masters in the own field of research and it is great to be learning under them. The student to faculty ratio is very fair. There is one faculty member for 5 students in the class. The institute functions by dividing each semester into two halves, in the first two semesters. Where in, there is an internal test post the completion of two subjects in each half of the semester. The exams and very challenging and worthy for building up a strong foundational knowledge.
