Remarks

A negative aspect is that its not present in metro location and is mostly semi urban...So students do not get a lot of exposure and experience to big companies and miss on certain chances....A positive aspect is that this colleges leaves everything to students so students are made self dependent..

Entrance Exam

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is good but not updated with the IITs and NITs..One reason being that it is a state run college administerd under VBU...It focuses more on theoritical aspects than practical concepts which is more necessary for engineering..

Internships Opportunities

No...The training and Placement cell of our college is quite lethargic and a lot of politics runs into its making...You will get to know more in final year..But you have to depend on your seniors and alumnis to get interns and VTs who are quite helpful and almost in all core engineering sectors like SAIL..ONGC..IOCL..NTPC..to name a few

Placement Experience

3

The placement scenario is good for non core branches like CS,IT,ECE but not very good for core branches...Students mainly dependent on GATE exam to get into PSUs...However some core companies from private sectors do visit our campus like Vedanta, Aditya Birla Group, Jindal Steel, Tata Steel, Tata Power, Tata Cummings, Berger Paints to name a few...But their intake is very low....You need to be competent and lucky to sail through it..

College Events

4.5

There are as much as 14 clubs working in our college catering to students of every interest be it sports...dramatics or techniqalities like robotics and sae India which deals with auto making..Also cultural fests and sports events are organised regularly......

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is very feasible...Only 14000 per annum as tution fees...This is the least among all Btech colleges..You can invest the remaining money after you get through the college..Also there are several scholarships schemes for financial weak students...

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not availed any scholarship till now...But my friend have availed some scholarships like eKalyan- a government scholarship for reserved classes..Also there are a lot of rewards for Branch toppers sponsored by different alumnus..

Campus Life

3

The labs are mostly non working in my chemical department and you will have to study its aspects...But as i say things have changed a lot in 4 years of my stay in the college and juniors need not have to suffer as many new instruments have been added and some have been repaired..Infact i have repaired one of them as my final year project...The sports arena is good and you get a gym with a non working treadmill and some dumb bells and other bench vices..

Hostel Facilities

4.5

This is a question I would answer in todays context..The hostels were awfully bad when i entered the college but now a lot of money has been spent in renovation and hostels are no less compared to private colleges in final year..Single room for every student..And you pay just 5000 bucks for one year...And you can use almost everything from heaters to music systems....

Alumni/Alumna

One area where our college is good is because of a strong chain of alumni network owing due its old establishment..The junior senior relationship is one thing you will cherish your entire life...They may scold you but at the end of the day you will be helped by them only..

Exam Structure

The exam is descriptive and consits of 70 marks consisting of 5 questions of 14 marks which are further sub divided into 2 question of 7 marks..You have to attempt 5 out of 8..The remaining 30 marks is internal..20 marks is for mid semester and the remaining 10 marks for class tests and assignments..This takes the toll to 100... You need to get 35 marks inorder to pass..

Admission

The admission is done through a jee pattern exam called JCECE..Its forms are available in mid may and its filled online and the exam is held in the first week of June..The counselling process starts soon after results anywhere between late July to early August...

Faculty

3

The faculty of our college is good and are recruited through JPSC...Most of them are PhD from IITs and NITs..But what is bad is the teacher student ratio which is drastically low..However I am in final year and the condition has drastically improved since 1St year and more than 80 facilities have been recruited and another 100 are on the list..

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

At BIT Mesra for our departments many cpre companies like Tatva Chintan, Laxmi Organics and Kanoria Chemicals were among some listed companies that came for placements. Luckily we are less in numbers and therefore 90% students from our batch were placed from here. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters from US.
