What Students Say?
Likes
- Affordabiltiy , the admission fees, registration fees as well as examination fees is very low which allows even the poorest of students to continue their studies.
- The college is situated on the banks of River Ganga and thus the view from the colege backyard is mesmerizing and peaceful when you go to sit on the ghats.
Dislikes
- The college is located in Ashok Rajpath Road of Patna and thus accesibilty is great problem due to lots of traffic and congestion and pollution too
- The infrastructure of the college is really poor and It does not even has its own Campus. It runs on the rented campus of Patna College.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum contains practical subjects such as financial accounting, cost accounting, Income Tax , Financial Management, GST, Mangement accounting etc subjects which are applicable in real life. The college should promote students to join internships in order to get practical insights of the corporate culture.
Placement Experience
No companies visit our campus directly for placements but still some companies come to our University directly and if you are lucky and talented enough , you may land a job there although the package being not very high.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
As a current B.Com student at Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, Patna University, I've had a unique experience in this government run institution. My annual fees amounts of ?4900 which includes development fees, lab fees and other charges. In addition, the registration fees is ?2450. For female students, the registration and exam fees are even lower at just ?450.
Campus Life
Annual Sports Events takes place in the college every year in the month of January/Februrary. Very old and outdated books are kept in the library which are roughly 20 years old and of no use. No special facilties and technology in the calssrooms except lightbulb and fans. although campus is covered by WIFI. Some extra currcicular activites on small scale keep happening such as rangoli competition, patriotic song competition etc, extempore speech competition etc.
Admission
I got confirmed admission various colleges such as St. Xaviers College, SriVenkateshwar College, Delhi University , BHU mirzapur but couldn't go because my father didn't allow me to go , Simultaneously I got call from PU as I scored highest marks in PUCET and was state topper.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is approximately 100:1. However despite the lack of faculties , they are easily approachable if you are a regular student. I like Ghazala Shaheen Ma'am , Meenakshi Ma'am and Zafar Alam Sir the most. There are 2 semester exams in one year + In each semester there are 2 CIA tests on an interval of 1.5 months approx. You have to submit assignments inafter 1st CIA. Out of 500 students giving the exam. About 100 fail in 1/5 subjects and about 40-50 students fail in 2/5 subjects ad some very weak students (2-3) also fail in 3/5 subjects . The course curriculum is okay but teachers fail to give practical insights about the topic due to lack of equipments, resources and infrastructure .
