Likes
- In my college the girls to boys ration is pretty much equal.
- The faculty is supportive and really helps you out .
- As my college is in south campus there is relatively less political influence.
Dislikes
- The cost of living is quite high especially if you are unable to get hostel.
- The capacity of hostel is quite low thus student intake is also low in hostels.
- Infrastructure of the college could have been better we have an auditorium building but it's not accessible to anyone!
Course Curriculum Overview
My course ,i.e. BSc. life sciences is a diverse course which have botany chemistry and zoology as its core subjects. This course offers a wide range of opportunities for the future. We don't have our own department and are taught by the faculty of Zoo, Bot and Chem department separately. Till now I have not faced any issue because of this.
Internships Opportunities
Our college provides serious research internship like srivapra. I'm presently a part of a research project of the same and it is quite going on well. We work under different professors according to the subject you want to opt ,to write a research papers and by the end of 3 months you will get a certificate along with a publication if your research work is selected and get your name published in a prestigious publishing paper.
Placement Experience
Specifically for BSc. placement opportunities is quite low for obvious reasons even if you do get placed, it is quite possible that the pay or the salary of your job would be quite low beacuse in sciences it requires a high skill to make big bucks. I personally would be pursuing MSc after this. So again don't opt for BSC if you want a job just after UG.
Fees and Financial Aid
In first year the fees was ~19k but it was hiked and in second year it became ~22.5k. This includes all the fees(tution,labs, development fees,etc.). The fees is subject to change for everyone depending upon your department. Eg the science dept have comparatively higher fees because of the lab equipments which costs lacs, so that is quite justified. If you come under EWS or PWD category you are given some relaxations and wards of faculty members are also given relaxation. I am not very sure about other categories.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite good. It hosts different events like Nexus and other cultural events very frequently. The extracurricular activities are also good. As long as you maintain your attendance, you can have a pretty much exciting college life in Venky. It has many inter connected societies of du circuit.
Admission
Well Venky is one of the most prestigious college in the Delhi University South Campus. Even in my preference list Venky was on the top. Primarily because of the political influence. In south campus Venky the politics influence is much less as compared to those of North campuses.
Faculty
Student to faculty ration is I would say comparatively lower . Although we are divided into sections for theory classes and batches for practical classes and in practical class there are 2:60 ratio of teacher to student and for theory classes it becomes 1:90 which is quite a lot. But the faculty is knowledgeable. So it depends on you how much you can gain from them
