Course Curriculum Overview

4

Everyone in today's world should have a knowledge of law and the faculty of law helps to do just that. The law knowledge that is given here is not only from books but from real life world perspective also. Activities like legal aid, moot competition, advocacy trials all helps a person to become ready for the real world. The only thing that can be improved in the curriculum is the managment ot the events. Various events are held in the college but only some of the students are allowed to sit and most of the other who wanted to attend that event left behind without any such replacements of the event. The exams are not that difficult if you have prepared them, the questions are easy to do if you have attended the classes and made notes or even borrowed notes. The exams won't cause you any hassle and will be easy to clear.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

University provides students with various internship opportunities under senior advocates, AOR and even judicial internships under judges. They also held the internhips and placement camps after the end of every semester to provide various internships to first and second year students. After second year, students tends to get internship from themselves under big law firms or advocates from the connections that they have made in previous years. I recently completed my internship under Luthra and Luthra Law Office which is considers to be one of the best law firms in India.

Placement Experience

3

A students is eligible to sit on placement after their 9th semester is completed in the college. Law is a profession in which students don't prefer to sit on placements because of the experience and connection that they have made during their time in internship. Students tends to apply for off campus opportunities for corporate or even litigation practices other than in campus placements. But nonetheless the college provides the placements for the students who sits on placements. The amount and packages varies every time. As I will be a second generational lawyer after this course, I won't be sitting for the placement as I have my own plans regarding the profession of law.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of the course for a semester for me was ?80,000 but right now it is ?85,000. The fees has to paid semester wise and not yearly wise. There are also scholarships that are given to students according to the CGPA they acquired in their external exams after the ending of the semester. There are no relief of the fees based on categories, whether you are OBC, SC, ST or GENERAL there is only one fee structure for everyone.

Campus Life

4.5

The univeristy helds many fests such as diwali fests, holi fests, basant panchmi fest and many more for the students and teachers. Library also provides students with sufficient study materials and other knowledge books and stuff. Univeristy also helds intra faculty sports competitions as well as university level sports competitions for the students as well as faculty memebers so the balance of lives are maintained in the university. There are diffirent social groups club and societies which are ran by students and other students can join them whether they are beginner or advance. Every activity have their clubs whether it be dance, singing, theathre, public speaking and other such things. I overall enjoys my time in the college as it provides me various things to try out and learn and to grow even more in other fields.

Admission

To get in a NLU of any state one has to clear the CLAT exam, I have given the exam but was not able to acquire enough marks to allot a NLU. So when I had to make a choice between the private universities among Shardha, Amity and SGT I preferred SGT because of the distance and the infrastructure that it is providing me for the reasonable amount of fees. After I failed to get a NLU I preferred SGT Univeristy and applied there and nowhere else. SGT University takes CLAT exams to take admissions in the college but also held an exclusive interview session for the students during the time of admission. If we compare SGT University with other private university then I prefer SGT because of the infrastructure and the opportunities that the college provides to the students other than their opted courses. It also held various fests and event which are refreshing for the students as well as the administration.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of law, SGT University is one the best faculty in the university. They tends to help students in any way and try to make the class session as interactive as possible so to provide a good understanding of the topic and law. There are two types of exams- Internal exams and External exams. Internal exams are of 40 marks and the passing marks are 16 marks, one has to clear a mid term exam of 20 marks (in which 7 are passing marks) and their given projects and extra activity work to pass internal exams. External exams are of 60 marks and are total subjective type, one has to get 28 marks to pass in external exams. To proceed to next semester one has to pass both the exams and to get the scholarship one has to pass the exams with flying colours. The fail probability is not that much once you sit for exam but if you have less than 75% attendance the administration can detain you from giving exams which results in failing of the exam.

For BBA.LLB course no batch has yet graduated, and the first batch to graduate is in their last academic year. We are expecting placements to start early this year, and after the graduation of our final batch, we will get a fair idea about the packages to be offered. Although IIM already has well-established placement records for other courses, it is expected to be the same for the law course

Placement Experience:

i think the students become eligible for placements from the 13th term. our first batch hasn't graduated yet. they are due to graduate in 2026. but certain law firms which have visited our college and have offered internships to our students are Khaitan & Co., Luthra, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, IndusLaw. Honestly, I have not decided yet what career i would want to pursue but yes, having a campus placement in hand definitely gives a sense of security. I may pursue an LLM after this or may enter into litigation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculam is very nice for the law subjects but for the BA subjects it can be very tiring at times. Like same concepts are repeated again and again in various subjects. E.g- Often what taught in Pol Science is same to what is taught in History, so it can be repetattive on some occasions.
