Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

In the starting two years, you will find the course curriculum easy which includes 40% theory and 60% practical work. It grabs students attention and interest to the fullest. It is just the basics of journalism and faculty tries to give good command over the language of students. Like fluency in writing and speaking in English or Hindi. Next year it becomes slight difficult for students as they reach the moderate level of journalism and the last two years (which is the masters level) is the toughest level that includes the deep insights into journalism.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The college particularly provides two types of government internships. One is vice chancellor internships which is 3-6 months long. This internship can be done on both full-time and part-time basis. The students are also provided with the fixed stipend of Rs 5500 for part-time and Rs 10000 for full-time. The second one is internship at press council of India which is provided with a stipend of Rs 10000 and duration of 2 months. The PCI also offers job to the interns if they perform good in the internship.

Placement Experience

2.5

The college provides placements to the final year students. In the last semester, the group of different companies, news agencies comes in the college to recruit students of their choice. Many positions are offered to the students with average salary of Rs 4-5 lakhs per year. The next is internship. The college also provide two types of internships, one is vice chancellor internship of 3-6 months also includes part time works with stipend ranges from 5500-10000. The another is internship at PCI (Press Council of India), it sometimes inlcude stipend and sometimes do not include also provide certificates and letter of recommendations.

Fees and Financial Aid

Delhi school of Journalism works as a departmental college for Delhi Univeristy that offers admissions in Journalism Course. It provides two three types of courses that are, Bachelors in Journalism, Masters in Journalism and Five Year Integrated Program in Journalism. The yearly fees for all the course is same which is Rs 70,000. The overall course fees is depend on the types of course you opt for. The fees includes admission fees, practical fees, caution fees, development fees and security amount of Rs 10,000. Apart from this, the college charges examination fees every semester for the examinations which ranges between Rs 1100 to Rs 1300. All the students besides of their castes are required to pay the same examination fees. The scholarships are provided to those belonging to SC/ST/OBC with family income of not more than Rs 2,00,000. About Rs 50,000 relaxation in fees amount is provided to these students in scholarships.

Campus Life

3.5

The overall campus life is good, apart from all the negative points that I have mentioned before. Students in the college comes from different states and countries and live like a happy family here. We participates in various festivals, competitions, activities and many more such things

Admission

The reason of choosing this college over the others is the one I mentioned back already. The college provides five year course which i found really profitable for me that I do not have to apply again for the masters and study and then appear again for the entrance examination and wait for the best college I get. But here I just have to give entrance at once and then study freely five years

Faculty

4.5

I can say that DSJ has got the best faculty ever. Whether it comes to teaching students or interacting with students, the teachers always helps us in growing by all sides. They provide the best teaching techniques by showing movies, reels along with theory work. Also, there is a female faculty, I don't want to name her, but she is find her the best madam in whole DSJ ever. She motivates you in all sides like how to live life, how to stay stress free, that you can do anything in your life, especially she empowers female students for their life. Apart from these, talking about the examination, so we have exams once in a semester. There are total six subjects from which four are subjectives and two are languages (one is regional language and another is foreign language). The exam which I personally find the toughest is Spanish (I opt it as a foreign language).

Overall the management is good. A few problems occur here and there, they are resolved later on but it will take a lot of time. The management responds but you need to give them a lot of time and have a lot of patience. Sometimes it may take 3-4 months for the management to take the required steps.
