Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum focuses on essential language skills like reading, writing, speaking. We also study the history and literature of Spanish speaking countries as including cultural elements is crucial for relevance. The faculty can try to incorporate unique and entertaining methods to keep the students interested . The exam take place at one and a half months interval and are of moderate difficulty.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There is a JNU placement cell which provides all the information about the availability of internship programs. Then there are various outside sources through which one learns about them. The stipend varies with the task at hand.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

A person residing in a hostel has to spend nearly Rs. 40000 per year which includes all the fees. The hostel charges about Rs. 1600 maintenance fees per semester. The message bill varies with hostels but on an average you pay Rs. 3200 p.m. The course fees amount to Rs. 175 per semester. There is a scholarship program for students with yearly family income less than Rs. 250000. The particular students get Rs. 2000 per month.

Campus Life

5

JNU has a vibrant atmosphere filled with numerous events. We celebrate all major festivals from all religions. There are cultural events held. Our library is the tallest building of JNU which boasts of thousands of books . Sports events are also held at regular intervals. The students also run various clubs which can be joined by any Jnuite.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The room is medium sized and shared by two students. Wardrobes, beds, chairs and tables are provided by the hostel. The food is excellent here and includes cuisine from all over India. Generally everyone is allotted a hostels during registration for the courses and they are quite affordable with a minimal fee of 1600 per semester. However if you don't get a hostel, the nearest place to live in Munirka which is a decent town.

Admission

Besides JNU, I also applied for Banaras Hindu University to which passed the entrance and got admission. But I chose JNU due to my interest in learning a foreign language and the ambience here was more appealing.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty here in one of the best in our country with the student to faculty ratio being 40:1. The students can interact freely with the professors. They are very amicable. The exam pattern consists of sessionals and end semester exam. There are 3 sessionals of which best two amount for 50% of the grades.

According to me, coming to JNU has been an life-altering experience for me. It has taught to embrace people from different backgrounds equally and also lended me the confidence to speak out my mind, even when it is not a popular opinion, whenever I want to. Also, the freedom of personal space that one can enjoy in this campus, without falling prey to any judgement, is also very inspiring and motivating.

Remarks:

Overall Hindu College excels in each and every aspect, including teaching and non-teaching staff. The admin section is also very helpful and efficient. It is a wonderful space to spend the prime education years. If there has to be a negative remark, it is the washroom and toilet facilities. It is not well managed at all, especially the women's washrooms.

SAU is good in faculty and curriculum but its not good in facilities. Sau don't have any good campus. It feels like that one is coming in an institute to attend classes. Despite having great fees i.e. almost 30k per semester they provide us with zero facilities. Its a place for hostllers. Students coming from other states can find this place heaven. But for day scholars like me its like a punishment. I don't feel like going to college as you are excluded. Either they should have hostels for everyone or they should have other facilities.
