Course Curriculum Overview

At first, I applied for Zoology honours but my marks were insufficient to get a chance in that department. Afterwards, I got a chance in Botany honours. After my first class my POV changed for the subject and I felt it was quite interesting subject

Class Size: 70Course Fees: INR 5660 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

I will have to pay nearly about 6000 every semester and my other batchmates pay very little amount i.e nearly about 1000 as they have scholarship scheme. sometimes its too hard for my family to afford the amount then we have to pay the college fee which is also near about 300-400

Campus Life

Every year there are many annual festivals and cultural programmes are held in the college campus like Saraswati Puja, Sharod Utsav, Book Fairs etc etc. The behaviour of the Librarian of GC college towards students are very rough..and not many books are available in it.

Admission

I have applied to only two colleges. Gurucharan college and Karimganj College. I got selected in both the colleges in First List. As my sibling works in Silchar so my family preferred me to choose Gurucharan college over the other college that I applied for. Cut-offs of the colleges these days are a bit high. so I would suggest all other students to attain atleast above 65-70% to secure a seat in the college

The teachers of the botany department are very cooperative and We can ask any of our questions at any time. Our Head of the department i.e. Ashim Das Astapati sir is very approachable person. as well as rest of the teachers too.

My college experience

Course Curriculum Overview:

One sessional exam and one semester exam per month reduces the burden on the students. Seminars are compulsory and they carry marks according to our curriculum and that helps us to improve our presentation skills and improve our public speaking skills. The sessional exam is not that hard and you can score well in semester exam if you solve previous years question papers.

Placement Experience:

From 7th sem students become eligible for campus placements I guess. Companies like Infosys visit here. Avg package is of 4.5 L per annum. Higher the academic performance of a student, higher the chance of getting placements

GC college Best part of my life

I applied for different colleges but GC college provide the best courses among the other colleges in Barak building that's why I choose GC college over the other colleges. My experience of being a student in Gurucharan College Silchar

Admission process is easy the eligibility of the course is, you have to do 60% in your HS exam, and you are done. Then if your name is in merit list then you are good to go. Admission form is collected from counter application fees is also deposit in the counter and also there is an online online method. You can go to college website, and then you can enroll there. There is a reservation for lower caste, such as SAST, OBC, sector. The frequency and timing of exam is quite reasonable because we have exams in every six months, so it is enough time to learn something. The areas where the admission process can be improved is the site that they are using for admission is quite slow, so they can upgrade the site for huge traffic....Read More
