Course Curriculum Overview
I always wanted to be a chef, hence I thought of this course and then gave the NCHMCT exam and got in IHM Pusa, which infact is the best rated college for hotel management in India. The curriculum prepares you for everything, long shift hours, stressful situations and how to tackle them, how to communicate with people, making new connections. The area I would suggest them to work on is again the campus and the facilities provided in the college is not that great. Being the top school, they should have the best equipments available with them. They give you enough time to prepare for the exams. Around 2-3 months break between every exam.
Internships Opportunities
In your second year you will go for your Industrial training where different hotels comes to the campus and select you after the interview. It is a 4 months training where you will learn about all the sections of a hotel and how it works. Stipend depends on property to property. Around 2k-5K is the average. 4 month training is divided in parts:- Front office, Kitchen, F&B, and Housekeeping.
Placement Experience
In the fifth semester the placement starts, they have a very high placement rate as all the companies comes to the college in the start considering the college is the best. Different companies like Marriott, Hyatt, Oberoi, Taj, Hilton, Lemon Tree, Eazydiner, Starbucks, Pret, etc comes for the placements. Highest package was for Growisto around 9.5LPA They have 100% placements. I am currently working as a Assistant sales manager in Eazydiner.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly tuition would be around 80K, including expenses like uniforms, equipment, etc. The fees were increasing every year by a little. You can get scholarships that were given by different state governments.
Campus Life
Every year we celebrate our annual day. There are different functions going on every month in the college. Different food festivals or something else. They have all the course related books available in the library for students. Classes usually have a projector and a white board. There is a computer lab with the right software. There is an annual sports day where students take part in different activities. There is a badminton court, volleyball court and a basketball court in the campus. There are different clubs like Music, dance, Tech, Eco, Kitchen club, etc. A lot of focus is on these clubs. Not a huge impact on students social life.
Admission
I only gave the NCHMCT exam and got 121 rank. Post that I had an option to go to any hotel management college but I chose IHM Pusa as it is the best college for Hotel management in India. No I did not get rejected from any college. So to get into the college there is an exam called NCHMCT for which you have to apply for. The exam is easy, different sections are there like logical reasoning, VARC, Quants, GK. Once the results are declared you will get your rank and then the counselling rounds start. If you have below 500 rank you will get IHM Pusa.
Faculty
There are almost 300 students in a batch which later are divided in different sections alphabetically. Different faculty for every year. The faculty is helpful and easily approachable. My favourite teacher there was the one for Housekeeping and Kitchen. Each year there are 4 exams. 2 mid terms and 2 end sems. Moderate level difficulty. 10-20 students fail in a batch of 300 students. Each year is different. First year is the basic. Second year will be for the industrial training. Third year is advanced along with the placements.
