Remarks

My Overall college experience is very good and joyful. The college management is satisfactory as they do care for students. Apart from good academics there are many extra curriculum activities from which every student can enjoy with learning something.

Entrance Preview

I appeared for MHT - CET 2016. I scored 189 marks out of 200. I always wanted to take admission in medical colleges in mumbai. As i scored enough to get admissions in one of my dream college, as well as one amongst the top 5 medical colleges in india, i took admission in GMC mumbai.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As it is a government medical college in maharashtra, the course structure is same as decided by DMER which is the controlling board of medical colleges in maharashtra. Course structure is very good which includes 4 and half years of learning and 1 year of internship which becomes total of 5 and half year course structure. As internship is included in course itself, students get completely prepared for the patients to face in real practice afterwards .

Internships Opportunities

Yes. All the medical government colleges in maharashtra provides internship inside the course. The 1 year internship pattern includes stipend of 11,000 Rs per month which is very satisfactory. Overall experience of internship is good.

Placement Experience

4

In MBBS there are no placements, so lets talk about job opportunities and post graduation eligibility percentage. Most students join medical officership in many areas around maharashtra, after MBBS with almost upto 1,00,000 Rs salary per month. Some students apply for PG NEET for post graduation. The percentage of students clearing the exam is very good from GMC Mumbai with comparison to other colleges.

College Events

5

As GMC Mumbai is only government college in mumbai with others being corporation colleges, the college get maximum fundings from state government with regards to academics as well as events and extra curriculum activities. The GMC Mumbai is well known for its grand events celebrated in the months of January - March. This period is of complete joy and enjoyment for every college student.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure is same for every government medical college in maharashtra. The fees are very feasible as compared to that of private medical colleges. The average per year fees are around 60,000 Rs for OPEN category students and about 15,000 Rs per year for OBC and other categories. So its very feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are scholarships offered for topper students by college management. There are also concessions in fees for category students or students with PTC, etc.

Campus Life

5

Campus of GMC mumbai is of almost 44 acres in the heart of Mumbai which is very large. The campus in itself holds hospital buildings, college buildings, hostels, canteens, sport grounds, few shops, and very pleasant, peaceful green areas. Campus life is too good and memorable. Gender ratio changes as per every batch so can't say about it. But on an average its 50-50.

Hostel Facilities

4

GMC mumbai provides one of the best hostel facilities in maharashtra. There are two Boys hostels and two Girls hostels in campus. The hostels are well secured and maintained. Hostels are provided with common as well as single rooms with all facilities such as electricity, bed, table, chair, etc. Each hostel has its own canteen, with good food. Obviously not like home but it provides nice food in reasonable prices.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very caring and helpful. They guide juniors before exams or any situations. They also arrange guide lectures on tough topics before exams.

Exam Structure

In MBBS there are 2 term examinations and final university examination at the end of a year. These exams are main exams which are conducted by all colleges in maharashtra. Except these exams, GMC Mumbai also arranges many class tests for the profit of students. So its kind of average number of exams, not too much or not too less.

Admission

After the results of MHT - CET were declared, the admission process started within 8 days. For the candidate to become applicable for rounds of college allotment, one has to fill the respective forms. After the 1st round list, i was alloted GMC Mumbai. Further process was to visit respective college and complete the admission process there by filling the college forms and the tution fees. This process was going on for almost 5-6 days.

Faculty

3.5

Faculties in GMC Mumbai are very good. The teachers are well qualified. They are mostly post graduate professionals, which gives the idea of their knowledge. The teachers are very helpful and caring. They never neglect doubts arising in students by explaining them neatly. Teachers individually take interest in teaching which feels good. They teach through power point presentations with extra educational videos inside them.
