Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course was a five year integrated course which means bsc+msc, so it was very beneficial for me to choose this as I would get a master's degree directly. The curriculum of the course was also not very hectic. Yes, but the classrooms can be an area of improvement

Internships Opportunities

2.5

There are not many intership opportunities neither are the students provided with good stipend, the stipend is also very limited...., if you're too good at your academics you might expect placements and internships but an average student must not expect much form the placement department of the university..

Placement Experience

2.5

Talking about the placements, don't expect that you will get a very good placement form the university itself. The placement cell is kind of weak, but yaa you can get good placements outside the campus. Of course placements are only for professional courses...., and I'm not doing a professional course, so my plan is to presue Phd. After completing my masters...

Fees and Financial Aid

The university is not so expensive when compared to other private universities, yes but it is quite expensive when compared to other government Universities. Guru nanak dev University is a public university, which is neither too cheap nor too expensive. The hostel fees for a year is around 20000 rupees and the mess fees per diet is 32 rupees which is quite reasonable, also the education fees(total fees for one year) is around 50000 rupees, which is also very reasonable. So yes it is a budget friendly please to presue your academics..

Campus Life

4.5

The overall life in the campus is top notch, you have various tourist spots near the university such as golden temple, jallianwala bhag, wagha border and many more, so yes you won't get bored of this place too soon, yaa but the climatic conditions might be a challenge, the yearly festival named as JASHAN is also very good and many students participate in that too, there are many social groups, social tours and many fun activities...

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostels are really not upto the mark, you won't be satisfied by the hostels, but when you see the price at which you are getting a hostel you really can't complain, but yes there is a chance of improvement in the hostels as well as the food quality. Air conditioners are also a must in a hot and humid area like Amritsar. Students also prefer PG's but they are also not a whole different world, yaa they might be better but a lot more expensive..

Admission

The eligibility of the course I opted for was through an exam, not any competitive exam but an exam conducted by the university itself, it's not very difficult as such, but yes you need your basics to be crystal clear. There is no negative marking which means that the exam is not very hard. Everything can be found on the official Website of the university, yes there are reservation benifits. All such things can be found out on the official Website

Faculty

4

The faculty is good and experienced. The professors are highly qualified and are very good at teaching, but the problem is the scholars, the first year students are taught by scholars who are persuing their Phd. In the same university and they are not very good at teaching though they also have very vast knowledge of things. We can interact with teachers quite often, as they are always available in the official timings of the university, some are even available after the class goes off. In the nutshell, it is a nice place in terms of academics if left the scholars aside.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course that is bsc in artificial intelligence and data science is quite demanding and I think this is the only field which is growing faster. Another reason for choosing this was I had huge interest in this field. But faculty, their teaching way and syllabus is too way less as compared to course. They focus more on their rather than the practical work but in this field practical work is more important than theory as theory plays no role in this field . They must reduce the number of mid sem exams conducted and focus more on making students better in practical work. After the starting of semester, just after 25 days when syllabus not even completed as the 1st unit.. they shout spreading the news of exams. We just got too busy in exams which make us feel distracted from our real work .

I choose this course because I wanted to do higher studies in Physics and then I want to work in ISRO as a scientist. Faculty:student ratio is 1:15 Professors and Staff members as highly qualified. They are very supportive. Always ready to help students. Semester exams are little bit difficult but can be passed easily if you have done hard work during the semester.
