Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum for the course is well thought and planned out, in relation to law related subjects the first focus is on the Constitution as it should be, the curriculum includes the important topics and is satisfactory. The bcom part of LLB prepares you for the real world by teaching you basics of accountancy amd business which might be necessary for your future. The course curriculum can be improved in areas of adding newer laws that were altered and added to our legal system to out textbooks as well. The frequency of exams are as necessary and the difficulty is moderate.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fee remains constant throughout the course, the total fee including all charges comes upto maximum 6000 per year, which is really affordable for most students that want to pursue LLB compared to other options, scholarships and financial aid is available to students with economic difficulties such as E grants programme by the government which covers all academic expenses and on top of that provides the student with 750/- rupees per month. I have not undertaken any campus employment.
Campus Life
The social or campus life in glc is very much fulfilling, there is always some programme or the other happening. Annual fests include literature fest, sports fest, etc. The library is fully equipped with all academic books necessary for your degree at glce. The classrooms are standard. There are many opportunities for sports and extracurricular activities on campus including, football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, carroms, etc. There are multiple groups run by students some examples are the glce research club, literature club, and the LGBTQ club. It provies for a fulfilling social life at glce.
Admission
I wrote the KLEE entrance exam as required to get into any government law colleges in kerala, i had secured a all kerala rank of 40 hence i was sure i would get into my first choice college, there are 66 seats in glc ernakulam meaning if you score a rank within 66 you will 100% have your seat, apart from that the cutoff was around the rank of 350 this year, if reservations are counted the cutoff would be higher around 800. After klee results were published i went on to apply to govt law college ernakulam and i got in, the admission process was swift and was over in an hour or two, it consisted of a short interview session and payment of fees of one semester. There needs to be no improvements.
Faculty
The teachers at glc kochi are friendly and good at teaching, they themselves are most likely experienced experts at the subjects they are teaching, but the genersl environment in the college is to engane in self study rather than rely on your teachers all together. Teachers are approachable and free most of the time for the need of the students. They have a positive approach to teaching and mentorship.
