What Students Say

- The best thing about VIPS was that the college campus infrastructure was one of the best. The college was an optimum mix of fun and studies with wide opportunities available for both.
- There were annual fest, cultural events, plenty of socities available for different skillsets
- Along with that there was a complete focus on providing skillset that is still prevelant and would help in building a good career.
Dislikes
- With all the good things there was still a scope for growth.
- All the studies and fests are okay but there was insufficient sports opportunities available for students.
- I believe that there needs to be some work done in adding more options for elective courses being provided in our final semesters.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is something I wish that needs to be worked upon. Though our Electives complemented current generation of technologies but the overall course subjects were behind in time. My motivation for joining this course was the rapidly expanding domains in technology and automation. I believe to keep myself updated in the world I need to be closer to the latest technologies and hence I chose BCA. Our teachers would help us out and inform and update us on what is going on in different technological sectors but the subjects according and content of books were not keeping up with the contemporary world and a lot of them taught us about technologies and programming languages that have little to no-use today. We had exams twice every semester. The internal exams (Theoritical + Practical) as well as Assignment submissions had a total weightage of 25% whereas the External exams (Theoretical + Practical) had 75% weightage.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our total college fees was 99,000 per annum for Three years and an additional 40,000 as university charges in the first year taking the total to 3,40,000 for three years. Apart from this there was a book bank option which could be availed at a security deposit of 5,000 which was refundable at the end of the course. Books will be issued at the beggining of the semester and will be swapped at the end of the semester with new semester books. A sum of 3,000 was also taken from us at the very beggining of course for issuing college ID card and Society fees. This was mandatory charges and non refundable even if you do not choose to join any society. Apart from that some minor contributions were pooled for Freshers party and Farewell party which would differ batch to batch. For entire duration of three years I did not find any option to gain any scholarship though I got to know from a friend that Financial aid can be requested at university level for EWS and Reserved category.
Campus Life
Infrastructure of Vivekananda institute of professional studies was excellent according to me. It is much modern than other options available in GGSIPU. There was availability of large sized classrooms with comfortable seating and well designed that Main Screen and board was visible to all. The seats in back of the class were elevated which ensured clear visibility. Classes were well air-conditioned and well lit. College Canteen was the digitalized from ordering food to making payments. For entertainment and recreation purpose we had Yoga rooms, Meditation rooms, Indoor games room, Large sized multiple libraries, Large auditoriums all blocks for functions and events. Club activities were also at peak with some events or programs happening almost every week and fests in general were really good too. There were multiple societies for Photography, Arts, Dance, Hackathons but personally I felt integrating in them a little tough unless you have excellent social skills.
Admission
I was fortunate enough to secure an excellent AIR of 171 in IPUCET which gave me freedom to choose any college of my choice in GGSIPU in BCA course. In Admission process CollegeDuniya helped me considerably as I used to check about updated and timeline provided there. Application form and admission process can be found on the official website of GGSIPU as well as of associated colleges. Exams are conducted once every year for most courses and admission is also through CET exams for most courses except otherwise required. The IPUCET for BCA had medium level difficulty and strong concepts of class 11th and 12th with a brushup of 9th and 10th can help you crack most questions. The problem I faced here is that Mathematics in 11th and 12th is not a mandatory subject for BCA eligibility but in IPUCET BCA there is Mathematics section that has a lot of questions from 11th and 12th Standard Mathematics which is a challenge for non-Math background students like me who had PCB background
Faculty
The Faculty in Vivekananda institute of professional studies were very well within the reach of us students. We need not to struggle to reach out to them. Even in the classes they hear us. Our queries and suggestions were given a thorough listening and in most cases provided an adequate response. In our final semester each student was assigned a Faculty member as our mentor who would guide us through the most crucial phase of managing our college studies as well as explore opportunities in Internships and Job placements. We interacted with them oftenly and whenever required and we always got sufficient time from them. That brings me to the topic of Student Teacher Ratio which was better in our college than our counterparts. Though the class size is suitable for 60 students we had about 50 students. Other than that we had dedicated faculty members for every aspect which helped us in getting sufficient time and response from them whenever required.
