Remarks
Overall a really wonderful, friendly, and professional college where the transition from an overseas student (myself being from London, UK) to someone who can fit in, study, play, and enjoy a productive and happy life is very much a reality rather than a possibility.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum experienced so far in my first year of engineering is relevant, but I feel it could be a little more specific towards more absurd interests that have not been explored at the school level to broaden the creativity of students, but without being too far-fetched, the curriculum is relevant enough, relatively a little research driven, and definitely fair. Making a better professional is done much better than expected.
Placement Experience
Being in the first year, it is a little tough for me to give a deep insight into the placements, but regarding the connections of this college, it is extremely vast, with internship offers spanning throughout the world.
College Events
Cultural Festival - A coming together of the first years with the rest of the institute and the faculty made easy with an inter-branch competition to showcase some amazing talents of the first years. Techfest - Brilliantly organized by the students to showcase the technical minds of the institute with some amazing projects and ideas that is rare to find elsewhere. Prota - The sports festival, with hidden talents in athletics being showcased by the students in a very organized, efficient, and most of all, fun.
Fee Structure And Facilities
First year fees = Rs 1,05,000 + Rs 95,000 + Rs 1,95,000 in installments (This is a rough estimate as I cannot remember the exact figures. The figures are also expected to vary for a different year. Moreover, I am an international student, hence the fees for a domestic student would be different)
Fees and Financial Aid
Have not applied for any scholarship or loan, therefore I cannot provide any reliable information about this. However, I am aware there are many scholarships available.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is very much even. With many international and Indian students coming from all over the world, diversity is much better than most will expect. It is a beautiful atmosphere with genuine and friendly people to be found everywhere around you. Extracurricular activities are always there for people who want to take that extra step in their respective area of interests. Clubs such as the AI club, the Orators Club, the MUN Society, and many more are present on campus to propagate such activities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel + Mess = Rs 88,000 + Rs 73,000 in installments for the first year. Standard of living is hostel is mainly subject to the student, but given the facilities, the standard is well above par. 3 people share a room, with daily cleaning of the room possible upon the student's choice. Mess food serves non-veg three times a week of a very high-quality product, veg and Jain food present every day.
Alumni/Alumna
Senior interactions are the easiest, just like talking to someone of your own age with a wide smile and someone who knows their stuff and can help you. Alumni network is beyond excellent. The teachers will give you many opportunities to showcase your strength, help you against your weaknesses, and interact normally like any other person, which is fantastic. The friendly and approachable nature of the faculty is the best thing about SIT.
Admission
Being an international student, getting admission was much more straight-forward than some might assume. A clear instruction guide, and a transparent contact with SCIE, that is the Symbiosis Centre of International Education, with having given the SAT examination in London, the admission process was through an online portal and continuous contact with the admission department for any issue, which was dealt with immense hospitality.
Faculty
With professionalism being the priority and education very close behind, the faculty is well above par, extremely approachable, unbiased, and well endowed with the knowledge of the area in their expertise. All the doubts have been welcomed brilliantly, and the adjustment from a foreign board to this curriculum is made much easier by the faculty at SIT.
