Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose CSE because it matched most with my ambitions and also it is one of the few sectors where hiring is always good and oppurtunities in India are also good for this field. The cirriculum look is at par with other colleges and prepares you for the real worl applications. The cirriculum is a little bit more theoritical it can be made for practical and make this course little bit more upto date. Frequency of exams is way too much half of our semester goes in exams. Difficulty level is not that much most exams are of average level.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Many companies offer internships. Internships can start from 20000 and go upto 1 lakh per month mostly. Many companies including apple, de shaw, jp morgan, microsoft, cisco, samsung, etc come to the college. Mostly DSA and hackathon projects are enough for the internships and a good interview. But competition in college is very good for these interships

Placement Experience

4

Placements for CSE are good. Many companies visit the campus like JP morgan, Microsoft, Accenture, Cisco, Samsung, Infosys, TCS, etc. Average package for CSE is 12 lakhs and highest domestic is around 70 lakhs. I think more than 90% students are placed in CSE.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Tuition fee is increases 10% every year and it goes upto 6 lakhs for the final year which is way too much. Complete cost of the course ranges between 20-22 lakhs. Many scholarships are available for the students based on cgpa, financial status, etc There are many societies in which you can get amazing experience of hosting events in the college

Campus Life

4.5

Saturnalia is the annual fest that happens in november, food fest takes place in october an almost every month there is a tech fest by one oe the other society. Nava Nalana Library has a very wide range of books and journals available. Screens are there in lecture halls and latest computers are ther in computer labs Sports facilities are also good but sometimes getting your tuen can be difficult due to many beinf there.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

I have hostel D which is very good as its building is latest to be made. Furniture in the hostels is good and have AC rooms available along with washroom in 2 rooms sharing. Rooms are double sharing. Mess food is sometimes good sometimes bad so i would say average. Hostel is registered through fretbox app but the hostels are also costly

Admission

Admission process is all through the thapar website. At first you apply for admission then rounds are based on boards and jee mains. Home state students(of Punjab) have reservation in the college along with sc,st,obc, ews, etc. Admission process takes too much time as there are many rounds and after that spot rounds are also there which makes it tiring

Faculty

3.5

The faculty-to-student ratio is not that good for normal teaching classes as in some cases it is 1 prof for 130 students or even more. It makes the class a little bit chaotic. Most of the Asst professors have done there pHD from IITs. Approach of teachers are of 2 types some that teach just from slides and other who take efforts and make their own notes for the class. Interaction with teachers after class is good.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd year onwards you are eligible for placements. In 6th semester placements starts taking place although most of the companies come in 7th and 8th semester. as Recession is going on for technical profiles less companies are coming and more of non technical profiles like mostlt sales profile are coming. As a BTech student no one wants to go in sales division as why are we even doing Btech if we have to go to sales department so that is a disadvantage. Also mass recruiters did not come this year for recruitments , Wipro came for 3.6lpa and cognizant for onlt 2.6lpa which is outrageous and they did nit even take a lot of students. It is a bitter truth but nowadays company wants even freshers to be highly qualified otherwise you won't get any placement. The test level is increased so try to give test with your friends only In my batch only 40% students got placed that too around 28% either got less package or non technical profile

Talking about the placements the students become eligible for placements during the last year of the degree i.e in the 7th or 8th semester. The name of the companies visited in our college are Capegimini, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Amazon, Byjus, Microtech etc. The students percentage ratio during the placements are 60-70% from every batch. Sometimes the number touches to 90%.

I was fond of learning the computer science course since it was my dream to study that. The faculty members are good enough and the teaching involved the traditional mode and has the best outcome at all. All teachers are properly qualified with master's degrees. Exams are conducted twice in one semester and are of moderate type.
