Thiagarajar College of engineering is the best engineering college in Madurai district and it stands first among all the top engineering colleges of the southern region of Tamilnadu. Also, it has been ranked 37th among all the colleges in all India level (including IITs and NITs) in the recent NIRF ranking. This college provides greater exposure to students through industrial interactions and various MOUs signed. It encourages students to participate in all India level contests and events and gives them full freedom. This enables the students to enrich their knowledge in the field of Engineering.

Yes. Our college provides internship offers from companies. Students are allowed to do their internship (either onsite or remote) during their period of study. Most students get their internship offers through the college's placement cell and mostly they do their internships during the 8th semester of their study. The general stipend is between Rs.10000 to Rs.30000. Students have a great experience during their internships because most companies which recruit here are MNCs and high-level startups which provide a great environment for learning during internships.

Students are provided with a handful of job opportunities from our college's placement cell. Through a well-designed system, the cell ensures placement for each student in the college irrespective of their department. Each department here receives various offers from various companies and they are categorized as CORE companies, IT companies and sharing based companies. The Placement cell ensures 90% placement every year. Students can attend their placements both on-premises and remote. The highest placed package this year is 27 LPA(lakhs per annum) and lowest is 3.5 LPA.

College celebrates both co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The college encourages students to participate in events and competitions. Some notable events are: -> Shrishti, TCE's intra college cultural fest, conducted every year. -> Techutsav, a national level technical symposium conducted every year at TCE. -> Festival, an inter-college technical fest conducted every year by the department of computer science.

Thiagarajar College of Engineering is a Government aided Autonomous Institution. So the fee structure is feasible and it is NOT expensive. There are govt support and self-support (SS) courses in this college and the academic fee is in few thousands(Exam fee and hostel fee separate) and it will vary from department to department.

The notable scholarship scheme of TCE is the Alumni scholarship which is provided by the alumni association of TCE to students who are in need of support financially, every year on Founder's day of TCE. The alumni of TCE provides the fund for the scholarship and each department selects 2 students(after series of interviews), who are in need of support financially, from each year of study to avail the scholarship. It also helps students to avail various government scholarships.

Campus life is truly enjoyable because students are given much freedom than any other colleges. However, there are certain rules to be followed by the students. Gender ratio varies from department to department(IT related courses have more female students while the Non-IT courses have more male students). There is no diversity between girls and boys and a healthy relationship is being maintained between all walks of people.

There is hostel facility available both for gents and ladies. Its infrastructure is good and it provides 24x7 power and WiFi facility for students. Full hostel campus(including college campus) is equipped with 100% wifi availability. As per the student's compliment, the hostel food can be rated from moderate to good.

Both the alumni and the seniors are friendly and helpful to the junior students. Alumni help the students both academically and financially through scholarships from the alumni association at TCE. Seniors in the department are friendly and helpful and there is no ragging.

Performance in each course of study is evaluated for a maximum of 100 marks based on one of the following: =>Continuous assessment throughout the semester and terminal examination during the end of the semester. The continuous assessment tests will carry 50 marks while the terminal examination will carry 50 marks. =>Continuous assessment only. The terminal examination of 3 hours will be conducted by the controller of examinations during the end of the semester and the continuous assessment tests of one and half hours each will be conducted during the semester period by the respective departments.

I got into this college through the TNEA(Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions) counseling conducted by Anna University. TNEA counseling is the common counseling scheme for joining engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Most faculty here are Ph.D. holders and others are pursuing their Ph.D. program in various esteemed universities and institutions. All the faculties at TCE are friendly and approachable.
