Likes
- The faculty has been very supportive and properly guided us through classes and any other problems we had, they also arranged for online classes needed, and they are experts in their field.
- Our college has very student friendly environment, no cases of bullying or ragging, on the contrary seniors are very helpful and the administration too takes steps when needed. Our college also arranged for parent teachers meeting.
- The campus is mediocre but we have proper digital classrooms which is used by most teachers but the classes are very roomy and airy which enables students to attend classes comfortably.
Dislikes
- It is a government college, so there are some situations when students get into fights with each other due to political reasons which sometimes becomes a problem for the students and also brings down the reputation of the college
- We have lift services but students are not permitted to use that, it's very hard to go three floors on stairs, it would be great if the students could use the lift.
- We have water stations in our college which give both hot and cold water, but the cold water tap hardly gives cold water, it also gives steaming hot water, which is a problem during this hot season.
Course Curriculum Overview
English has always been my favourite subject and I've always wanted to study it in further detail. This course allows us to know the history of the language and about so many renowned people and their works. This curriculum prepares you for higher studies and for anyone who wants to pursue the subject and go on with becoming a teacher or professor can obviously do so. I will be going to take competitive exams for government jobs, you can go on with any job you would like to take up.
Fees and Financial Aid
They take fees during admission which is for first year and then fees are taken at the starting of every new academic year. You can avail any scholarship be it government, private, just need to provide a letter to the principal of required. If any student is unable to pay fees the college has options, they probably need to be discussed with the office. There is no tuition fees increase policy, during admission they took 5.5k to 6k which has remained the same for all the academic years , so after completing college your total cost will amount to around 30000, ( considering all charges, they take money during University exams ( that is charged directly by the University)). It may vary for other courses.
Campus Life
We have a social fest every year around the time when the year ends, many renowned celebrities are called to perform and give our students a great time, a time worth remembering about their college life. We also have a sports meet during the middle of the year which is attended by other colleges and students get to meet new people and engage in curricular activities together. We have a sports room which has all sorts of indoor games and for outdoor games our college has cricket, football, badminton, kabaddi. We have all digital classrooms which is used by our teachers to take classes, our library has books which range in different topics and all are available to be borrowed.
Admission
Admission process was very simple , just how you apply online for colleges, for English honours they had 80 percent cut off , but one thing I didn't like was when they released the list of the names of the students who were selected they did not give any notification which affected many students as they didn't know that they were selected and they couldn't complete the admission process on time. So I would advise when applying keep checking the website for updates, otherwise students can miss out on important information.
Faculty
We have 5 professors in our department, each of them take care of the 3 honours papers and a compulsory SEC paper. All of them take classes regularly, even extra and online classes when needed and we have WhatsApp groups made with each of them which are accessible to anytime, it also helps in discussing stuff when college is closed or exams are coming up and we need to clear our doubts. After our results they also give us required tips to do better next time and we also get proper notes from them to help study for the exams.
