Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum gives equal weightage to theory and practicals. The theory is very subject specific and relevant to forensic science. It includes real life case studies and examples. The practicals performed are as per DFSS manual and standards. One thing that would make it even better is continuation of subjects in each semester for much detailed study and knowledge in that particular field. For eg. Forensic physics is not present in 4th semester which creates a gap. Bsc subjects should be in more depth and detail so that student can know relevant information about that field and its real life applications. The exams are very frequent and keep you busy we have Term assesment 1 and 2 ,Midsem, end sem exams in a semester of 6 months along with presentations and assignments. The curriculum does not have any extracurricular activities like sports or cultural.

Internships Opportunities

5

The intership and training opportunities through NFSU is pretty good. You can get internships from various regional, state, and central forensic science labs through recommendation of college. You can get internships from 2nd year onwards. I recently got internship at Uttrakhand State forensic Science laboratories in 2024. I got to work with scientists and officers in various divisions such as toxicology, serology, narcotics, biology, ballistics and audio video division. You'll get hands on experience on detection of poison, alcohol from viscera. Identification of bullets and weapons in ballistics. You might get to do PCR if you're capable enough. Overall internship is an eye-opener as you get to know the practical side of Forensic and how real life cases happen and how they are handled

Placement Experience

1.5

Msc or Mtech students of digital forensics, cybersecurity are eligible for campus placements. However some students from QD and fingerprints have also recieved placement in past For students of forensic science they are eligible for crime scene investigator in private insurance firms or after Msc they can clear FACT exam or FACT plus to get jobs in govt sector based on contract. My plan would be to give both FACT exams along with SSC and NET which would give me experience in labs through which I'll be eligible for higher posts such as scientific offer or senior scientific officer

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

In 2022 the fees for bsc msc forensic science integrated course was 50000 per semester but now it has increased for the new batch but ours will remain same. The complete cost of doing BSC and Msc from NFSU would be around 11-13 lakhs. If you come under the non creamy layer and your parents yearly salary is below 8 lakhs then you might be eligible for scholarship based on merit. For other courses such as DFIS the fees is much higher around 90 thousand per semester. The fees should have been comparatively low as it is a government institute.

Campus Life

3.5

Nfsu gandhinagar is actively involved in annual fests and sports week, it regularly organises sports and cultural activities but Delhi campus does not it is one dimensional and does not promote any sports or cultural activities. However students do participate in events such as YQBF. The library has all the books you need along with smooth wifi and devices. The classes are good they have all the things and equipments a classroom needs. Sports and cultural activities vary from campus to campus.Student life overall is good it depends on the campus you choose

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facility for girls is good in Delhi campus but for boys is very bad. Girls hostel is within the campusand the fees is quite high so if it's possible you can look for PG or rented room nearby also the hostel facility is available only for 1st year students for BSC and MSC students only the next year you'll have to vacate. The food at mess is extremely bad so opt for tiffin services. The PG and room for rent cam easily be found in sector 3 rohini or sector 7 rohini. While filling in the form opt for hostel facilities and you'll get hostel based on merit. You can rent a room through a broker or without one to save brokerage fees or you may also interact with a senior for the same.

Admission

NFSU conducts the National Forensic Admission Test (NFAT) for admission to its undergraduate, postgraduate, and postgraduate diploma programs. The NFAT is a computer-based exam that consists of multiple choice questions (MCQs). For opting Bsc MSc forensic science your subjects in 12th should be physics chemistry biology or mathematics with minimum 60% marks in class 12 Admission would be on the basis of marks scored in NFAT. Question Paper 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 100 marks. For each incorrect answer, there would be 0.25 negative marking. No. Of seats For bsc MSc forensic science there are 180 seats for 5 campuses i e Gandhinagar, Delhi,Goa,Tripura,Dharwad Counseling After result declaration the counselling would happen and the courses will be alloted as per rank and category

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this field for myself because of the interest I share with animals and their well-being! To my knowledge, this course is definitely perfect if you want to pursue the field of research or be it a forest officer. The field has diverse opportunities if you really are interested and also not if you have no interest or experience. In the real world, the value of a zoologist depends on how well-experienced you are. Teaching methods as of now need no improvement its fun to learn and grow with it as it is right now. In terms of examination, we have our mid-semester and then externals the difficulty level is 70-30 means 70 percent is hard to moderate level and 30 percent is quite direct questions. They will prepare you for competitive exams.

Placement Experience:

Placements are given mostly to masters students in our degree because BSc students can't get enough or good amount of salary in india so they don't go for placements and job. Most of the students opt for Masters in Science or Management or Lab technician and after master's degree some go for job and others for PhD. Companies that visit our college are TCS, Sun pharma, Zydus etc.
