IHM Pusa, a journey of lifetime

Curriculum is quite simple, they have a theory and a practical part. The theory part is very easy but the practical part is the real deal. It not only prepares you for any tough situation but it also makes you bold, enhances your skills, your grooming, etc. The exams are taken at the end of every semester along with mid semester exams as well. When you talk about improvement points, it's very clear, there's not a lot of room for improvement there because it is what it is. The hotel industry a to z is covered in those 3 years but yes, you can always enhance the learning experience for the students

The students are eligible for placements from their 3rd year. IHM pusa has a 100% placement record since years and it still serves to that. Incase a student doesn't get placed, the college takes full responsibility to place them by making a special group after the college ends after 3rd year where various companies are called upon for them specifically. Thus the college maintains 100% placement guarantee. All the big and small hotel companies come to IHM Pusa as their first choice for placements like TAJ, Oberoi, ITC, Marriot, Accor, etc. Apart from them, non hotel brands like Puma, Zomato etc have also come in for placements. This year, more than 140 companies came for placements giving an average package of 4lakhs per Anum. My plans after the college is to go for higher studies.

The college works under a government body of NCHMCT which lays out a fee structure at the start of every year with some changes. Since IHMs are still not approved for the degree certification, the degrees are provided by JNU now. The tuition fee varies but it never increments. The 3 year course total fee is shown at the beginning of the admission process and that is followed throughout. Now talking about the cost, the over fee is somewhere around 5 lakhs now. This fee includes tuition fee, various other fees including lunch meal served to the students. The hostel fee is somewhere around 75 thousand for a triple sharing room for 1 year and 1lakh for a single room for 1 year. IHM Pusa is known for being the best college and that includes placements as well. This year, more than 140 companies came to the college which included hotel and non hotel brands with an average package of around 4lakh per anum. As of scholarship, the college doesn't have it's own scholarship programs.

IHM Pusa is affiliated with the ministry of tourism department. It holds multiple events all year around as to promote tourism, hotel, food, culture etc. Annual fests like Annual function, republic day, independence day celebrations are held at the college along with the various other events as well like "Millets" fest, Japanese cuisine workshop, Korean cuisine workshop, etc. which includes promotion as well as exhibition of various things like food, culture, history etc. The college has various clubs like TRAS eco club, Kalakriti, Kaladhar, Singing club, acting club, tourism club etc. which take part in all of these events enthusiastically. Being completely honest, college does have a volleyball and badminton court but they are hardly played so sports is where they can improve

You need to be 12th pass to enroll for the nchmct entrance test. The NCHMCT-JEE exam is the entrance test given by the NCHMCT for a common entrance test for various IHMs across the nation. The application form can be found on the website of NCHMCT. it's fee is 1000 for general and 700 for OBCs. Application forms are open from Feburary and the dates end in May around time. The cutoff varies a lot year by year so it's difficult to say for that but for a general category, an AIR 160 and above is safe to say. The exam is 3 hours long which test you on general knowledge, basic maths, science, history, politics, reasoning and aptitude. After the exam, the ranks are allotted after a few weeks after which the students have to fill up the college round forms where they have to fill their preferred college. After 3 rounds, final list of students selected are released by the college and admission process takes place as per the college's guidelines. To be honest the admission process is very smooth.

IHM Pusa has one of the best set of faculty you'll find anywhere in India. The teachers are not only cooperative but highly skilled, trained and have a really helpful nature. Faculty to student ratio is 300: 10. Teachers not only have a great teaching experience but on field hotel experience as well and thus they are an excellent mentor to the students. Since most of the faculty reside in the college premise only, approachability is very easy
