Best place to study B A English Literature,Communication and Journalism

The College is affiliated to Mahathma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The course name is B A English Literature, Communication and Journalism (Model III)(Triple Main). The course gives equal importance to the three fields and provides the expertise needed. The curriculum should focus some more on improving the english speaking skills of the students.The Exams and other internal analysis methods are comfortable for students. The course helps to come out of the shell and deal with our inhibitions in facing crowd and camera

An internship is compulsory in the 6 th semester. Students can do their internship in fields related to English Literature, Communication Studies or Journalism. Their experience must be submitted to the department as a report and valuation is done on the basis of that report and a viva. I did my internship in Deshabhimani Kottayam. I got chance to work in both reporting and editing sections. I did another internship in the 3rd semester at DC Books Publishing house as an intern in editing section.

Campus provides placement drives and the facility is available for all the students in the last semester. The average salary packages are not that high. The placement options is not available for all the departments. Communicative English graduates are not getting placement options they deserve in their respective fields. The placement drives are more concentrated in providing jobs rather than providing jobs in the fields they studied.

The fee per semester for the 2019-2022 batch was 11500 excluding the exam fee. There is no massive hikes in fee structure till date. Most of the Government scholarships are not available while studying this course as this is a self financing department. However college provides financial aid for students in necessity. Tuition fee reimbursement is available for resrved category studenta as per the govt. Rules. In the last semester of the course there are various placement drives that provides students the opportunity to get placed after completion of the course.

Political activities are active inside the campus and it provides an atmosphere for students to be political and express their views. The campus have a very pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. Hostel facilities are average and adjustable.

In the previous years selection was based on entrance test,allotment and personal interview. There are management seats available but still students have to under go all the phases of admission just like merit seats. The admission process can be more transparent and convenient.

Communicative English department have very approachable and highly qualified faculties. They are always supportive and helps in all activities of the students.They insists on publishing a department magazine and publishing short storys written by students every year. Even after completing the course they helped us in getting internships and placements.

I attended an entrance test and 2 rounds of personal interview. The entrance test mainly focused on English Grammar skills, vocabulary and reading. The interview focuses more on the skills,talents and knowledge required for journalism field.
