best of my experience and Knowledge,JIST

We have 6 semesters (from 2024 another year is added, so they have 8 semesters). We have to appear 3 exams per semester. 2 exams for class internal Evolution and then the final exam. I haven't felt that much pressure in appearing two exams before final . The question paper of CIE covers 60% of our syllabus. Then In the Final exam the question paper comes from the whole syllabus. We used to appear 3 CIE at the beginning semesters but then 1 CIE was reduced.

The internship is compulsory for the B.Tech students but not for any BSc stream. Still If a student from BSc want to do internship they can do on their own . In Tezpur University internship for IT students is available there are some other places too.

On the final year students become eligible for campus placements from how much I know. The IT department don't get good package on placement as I have heard about my senior. Only one company came for the offer. some other department from BTech do get campus placements but rate is so low. I am not planning to continue this degree after my graduation I am going for something else.

The fee is almost 8000 for each semester, 6000 for admission and 1600 for the examination form fill up . The students who's family income is less than 2.5 lakh those can apply for scholarship from which they will receive upto 54000 per year for 3 years or 4 years. Other scholarships are also available like 8000 per year and such. The students from Btech get the campus placement opportunities than the Bsc students.still the rate is low for both.

College week, every year. students get chance to show there talents.Every department comes with different ideas of performance which is really fun to watch and also participate. "Hutuli" an event to welcome the Assamese year. A tech fest was celebrated named as Abhiyantrik before we even came to this college, but due to some issues this tech fest isn't happening. Each Classrooms has fans , lights, blackboard & some have whiteboard.In some classes it has projectors.

Hostel rooms are good, but a little small to stay 3 students together. Meal quality is good so far .To receive the hostel facility one have to just choose option the option for hostel on the application, and even after admission they can ask for hostels. Hostel fee is 2k per month.

First You have to pass your 12th from science stream. The cut-off is different in different years but still it's around 60% and sometimes after admission when many seats are available they give chances to students with lesser percentage. I didn't took any entrance exam to get admission in here, It was merit basis. Exams are difficult as much as it should be so it's okay for me and have nothing to comment on the exam and the admission process. Students have to go through application process then the merit list will come and then direct admission.

In the department of CS & IT department the number of teachers is very low. The teachers are available anytime & they helps in studies. They interact with the students & ask every student If they are having any problem when any student get low marks. tell us every time to be present at class. But the only problem is I think faculty to student ratio. Sometimes a teacher takes two subjects class. Same teachers have class in different classes problems like this.. because of this I think the teachers also get in problems they don't even have enough time to sit sometimes.
