What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is really nice. There is a lot of greenery, freshness. You can easily find peacocks and many beautiful animals and birds roaming around.
- The fees is extremely low. It's even lower than most schools. It's around 7500 per semester for B.Tech. and around 4000 for other courses. So, it makes a great ROI as you can easily save the money.
- They do help in getting you internships and full-time jobs. Nearly everyone in our class got an internship and the placement season for jobs is still going on. If you are someone who has even somewhat knowledge of coding or any other skill, easy.
Dislikes
- They follow an old curriculum. It's honestly the same with every Indian college but all the courses are old. They'll teach you basics of C or Java whereas in reality you need much more to get a good job.
- It's not for people who want to have a 'college life'. There are no fests, programs as such. There is a lot of strictness. You will need to abite by their rules.
- There is reservation for other castes, SC, ST, OBC which makes it difficult for people to get in.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was a student of B.Tech. Electrical with specialization in Computer Science. So, I'll tell for that. The curriculum for electrical engineering was pretty good. Nearly all the subjects that are important in getting a job or cracking exams like GATE were taught throughout the 4 years. They emphasize a lot on GATE and even hold classes for it. I won't say the same for Computer Science subjects. There were only 2-3 subjects in the entire 4 years and that too they revolved around C and Java. No subjects such as ML, Web Dev, etc. were taught. In a semester, there are 2 CTs (Class Tests) and 1 End Sem. Apart from that there are daily home assignments and class assignments. So the exam structure is very robust. But it is pretty easy to pass if you have attempted even a few of all the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Companies that usually visit our campus- Keysight, Cadence, NeenOpal, MFilterIT, and some startups. Stipend ranges from 60,000 to 5,000. Roles- Software Developer (70%), Data Science (20%), Web/App Development (10%) Projects depend from company to company but all the students gain hands-on experience and work on real life projects. They make sure that each and every student gets an internship even if it's an unpaid one.
Placement Experience
Placements are alright, I would say. They are not very good, neither are they bad. For B.Tech., average package is around 4.5 to 5 LPA, highest package was 15 LPA and lowest package was 3 LPA. They have a lot of connections, so they make sure that each and every student gets placed. If you are someone who has good communication skills and a bit of knowledge of your domain, you won't face much difficulty in getting both internships and a placement offer. They do focus on GATE exam or Masters a lot and also have dedicated classes for it. Companies that visit are- Cadence, MfilterIt, NeenOpal, Keysight Technologies, etc. Mostly all the companies hire atleast 4-5 students and the roles are open for Electrical students mostly. Around 70% of students have got placed till now and 20% are planning for masters.
Fees and Financial Aid
This is something which is one of the best in this college. The fees is around 7500 Rs per semester which is extremely low as compared to lakhs you might spend on a private college. Additionally, they also provide scholarships for needy students that goes upto around 50,000 per semester which is honestly great. The scholarship is known as U.P. scholarship and they help you throughout in getting that from submitting the form to receiving it. Though I did get an oncampus internship from here. My role was of a Data Science Intern. I chose to go with my off-campus internship because I liked it much more. Nearly whole batch was placed during the internship season. For final placements, I didn't sit for it because I had already got an off-campus placement and I wanted to go with it. The highest package that was offered was of 15 LPA and lowest was of 3 LPA with an average package of maybe 4.5 to 5 LPA.
Campus Life
This is something that they need to improve a lot. You can not think that you are coming to a college if you are getting an admission here. You must assume that you are going back to school again. They have a lot of restrictions and everyone must abide by their rules. There are no fests, games, etc. no student-run social groups or clubs. Since they are very focused on student development (career wise) they do have some workshops for it but that is it.
Admission
The admission process was pretty smooth. Firstly, you are required to submit an online form at the DEI, AGRA website. It usually opens up in the month of May. Then, there is an aptitude test if you are eligible for it. Post that, there is an interview which will revolve around you, your subjects, courses you have opted for and general knowledge. At last there is just a document verification to make sure you have submitted the correct documents. For B.Tech., candidates are selected on the basis of their 10th marks, 12th marks, any extra-curricular activities they have done, 'seva' or help they might have done in any context, sports certificate, JEE Main marks, interview and assessment marks. There are reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS classes. Application form fees was around 200 rs. The difficulty level is easy to moderate. If you have been an average to good student, you shouldn't face much difficulty in acing everything. They can be a bit more transparent.
Faculty
There are knowledgeable teachers who'll help you in every way. At the same time, there are also teachers who might actually rude with you. The teacher to student ratio is good overall but there are very less teachers in CS department. Nearly all of the faculty has done either Masters of PhD or something are pursuing the same. You can definitely interact with teachers are they are alright with it. You can reach out to them anytime in college. Some teachers might provide you their email or even whatsapp number at times. So, connecting with them won't be an issue. They are always ready to help.
