What Students Say
Likes
- This college is one of the best college for textile engineering as there are not many colleges with this stream. Their placements are also good.
- Lots of opportunities are there for computer science students, latest branches like artificial intelligence
- Tie-ups with many international universities helps students to pursue masters degrees
Dislikes
- Not much exposure to practical knowledge
- Placement scenario of civil, mechanical branches is worst, they try to place them in any IT company instead of bringing core competencies in campus
- In first year, they really don't teach much about real life engineering problems, it's just about theory and practicals formality
Course Curriculum Overview
Basically they have semester pattern with CGPA grading system. There are 2 midsem tests in a semester and a final paper. In all exams, they ask theory based questions and numerical questions. There's no test based on MCQs. If we think about real world applications, they teach mechanical engineering students few design softwares like AutoCAD, CATIA but not in depth. They should cut the outdated subjects
Placement Experience
The placement scenario is different for Textile department and all other branches. Let me break it down for you. For Textile department, the Pre placement offers and internships in foreign universities are available from 3rd year . And normal placements starts from September month of final year. Sometimes Computer science students also get a chance to do internship in abroad. For other branches, the placements start in final year. Mostly they bring service based IT companies for recruitment. Even they successfully place mechanical, civil, electrical engineering students to companies like Capgemini, TCS, Wipro, Infosys with 3.5-4 LPA. Few core companies visit but the provided package is less than 3 lpa. Few students get exciting packages on their own.
Fees and Financial Aid
Recently they have increased their fee's for all courses. Earlier, it was approximately 60000 /- per year for General category students. But now it's around 75000-80000. We get basic scholarships from MahaDBT like EBC , EWS scholarship, fee deduction only for OBC and other reserved categories.
Campus Life
Well all departments forms their teams to organise event's every year. But the events include few typical things like poster presentation, Quizzes, industrial drowing competition and few automation based projects. The library is good, there is variety of books, journals, papers available for each subject along with artistic books, novels, poems. Classroom teaching is done on black/ white boards, presentations, notes.
Admission
Well, there's no need to worry about the admission process. Students who appeared for MhCET and JEE are eligible to apply for this college from a common entrance form. Both scores are considered. Eligibility criteria includes scoring minimum 70% in your board exams. There's no application fee for applying to this college but once you are allotted this seat , you have to visit this college to pay mandatory 1000 rupees, verifying all the necessary documents and have to pay minimum 50% of course fees. There admission department is quite good that they gives smooth experience in admission process.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:20, which doesn't seem good to me. There are many experienced teachers but they don't support students in extracurricular activities. They follow the traditional way of teaching and expect students to attend lectures and bring good marks .
