Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course and curriculum was good overall but some courses were repeated in a way. The curriculum had been better if they could involve image processing and taught in depth about it, as it is rising topic. The course had basics but it should have had some latest topics. Some teachers read only ppt where they should have used real life example. The course was otherwise interesting but they made it boring. They should focus more on latest topics.

Placement Experience

4.5

The campus placement are good, you need to work hard for it as there is a lot of competition. The campus placement starts from end of third year and then continues to forth year. The college also provides opportunities for internship, though our batch didn't get one. The highest package from biosciences batch was around 7 LPA and average is around 4-5 LPA. There are several companies that came for sales profile, for IT the companies were limited, only the mass hiring ones came. I was able to grab one offer from campus placement. The companies that visited campus were Accenture, Medtronic, Capegemini, DXS Technology, Deloitte and many more.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees was around 1 lakh per semester but LPU provides various scholarships that comes to our aid. The hostel charges are according to the room that you opt for, message charges are different. If you opt for placement, you have to pay a certain amount. The companies that came for our batch was kind of limited to sales and scribing. But there were some amazing companies with good opportunities.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is the main highlight of LPU. The campus is huge and there are so many activities that you can participate in. Theere are several student organisations where you can take part in. There are fests almost every other week and something is always happening at LPU. The library is huge and it's a place where you can find peace and read something. There are books related to your course and books that can be ready in leisure. The classrooms are well maintained. There are 3 gyms in campus. There is a swimming pool, basketball courts, badminton courts, they even have basketball court and badminton court in hostels. They even conduct inter hostel sports competition which is very fun. There are EDM nights, One India fest, One world fest, Coke studio, concert nights, book fair, etc. The campus life is so good that everyone should experience this.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have lived in hostel as well as PG. Hostel rooms are very spacious and cleaned every day. They provide with one bed, one table, one chair and almirah. They have separate washrooms in every room with balcony too. The girls hostel has mirror too, which is mandatory for every girl. The mess had good quality food, sometimes they made really delicious food and sometimes not that good. The registration process is very easy and convenient and the rent hikes every academic year. There is a locality near campus named as Lawgate where I stayed. The rooms are good there and you can have variety of good food there. There is another locality known as Hardaspur, it is cheaper than lawgate.

Admission

As I am from bio background so I had limited options for BTech. I joined the last batch as it was covid era. My scholarship was based on my 12th standard percentage. But LPU conducts LPU NEST on which scholarship is based. The admission process was smooth overall.

Faculty

3.5

In our speciality, all the teachers were holding PhD and were very knowledgeable but some of the teachers couldn't convey that knowledge to us. Due to limitation in number of teachers in biomedical, we had to make it work.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
