Course Curriculum Overview
Computer Science and Engineering course has always been the classic computer course for years. The curriculum followed is similar to that of the Information Technology course in most of the TNEA colleges. Speaking of real-world applications, the curriculum is constantly improving but I don't think its enough to match today's software company demands. The reason for this, is ofcourse the presence of written Examinations I would suggest to keep the programming subject exams in platforms like Hackerrank to improve student's technical knowledge and Problem solving skills.Teaching metiods should be lab based or visual. The College exams are definitely a mess. The current Anna University Syllabus(It is the standard syllabus followed in TNEA colleges) has subjects like Chemistry, Physics,Indian Constitution,EVS, Tamil etc which aren't really useful for the students future. The Timing of exams is based on whether they are lonthly exams or semester exams, monthly exam- 1hour 40 mins. Sem-3hrs
Placement Experience
Placements are conducted from the 6th semester which is in the 3rd year. Many of the companies that visit our college are service based but there are some product based companies like Zoho,Amazon, IBM which have visited but the student intake is low.The offer count probably reaches 1k every year. The CSE department gets around 90% placement record in recent years. I am planning to get placed via offline interviews rather than getting a low salary in campus placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees get reduced for the second year by around 20k. I spend around 60k a year for the fees,it is because of my first graduate certificate.Otherwise it would be around 85k. First Graduate scholarship,NTSE scholarship and some central gov scholarships are available. I haven't attended campus employment as I am a 2nd year right now.
Campus Life
I am sorry to say this, but our college doesn't have any sort of non academic events. The library does have a wide range of books but they aren't regularly updated. The classrooms are pretty much the same as a school's classroom, there is no technology or whatsoever. Intramural Sports events are conducted between departments but no cash prizes are awarded. There is no clubs atleast not anything official except maybe the coders club.
Admission
The eligibility for applying is to be a 12th graduate. The application is done via TNEA(Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission). As I applied during Covid time, the entire process was online.I just had to visit the college after my seat was confirmer.Speaking about the counseling, we had 4 rounds which is entirely based on your cutoff in 12th board exams.i.e Cutoff = (Maths marks/100) +(Physics and Chemistry both converted to 50) divided by 2.During the 2022 counseling 185 was the cutoff for the first round.I was given this college in second round of the counseling.Speaking of Exam difficulty, the Tamilnadu board is improving its syllabus every year for neet ans IItjee aspirants. So it's getting tougher to obtain good marks, but overall when compared to other boards the exams are at a moderate level. The admission process in my college wasnt organized very well, the staff and the entire admission team could have done a token based admission process.
Other Applied Colleges
Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology - [RIT] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)
I didnt this get college because the cutoff was high for CSE.
