Real life experience from IITG student

My interest in structural mechanics influenced me to take this course. And the applications of this course is huge in real world. topics in civil like geology and soil mechanics were kind of boring as I felt not much of logic in there. Environmental engineering is quite interesting. The exams level are moderate and exam frequency is okayish, 2 quizzes, midsem and endsem for a course is reasonable.

Microsoft, Google, amazon, Goldman Sachs, jp Morgan and all these big companies give around 1.5 lakh and more. And few startups also come to college, some giving more than 1 lakh and few in 50 thousands around

My college placements are great to around 90 percent but placements in my core are not so good, around 75 percent. Students become eligible from 7th semester. Highest package is around 33 lpa and lowest is 6 lpa. My plan is to sit for placements.

Since I am from General ews I got a scholarship on an income base, The fee without any scholarship is 12 lakhs for 4 years and fee for me is 5.6 lakh. People from sc st category get many scholarships and girls generally get a good amount of scholarships. And talking of internships girls get more internship opportunities from 2nd year itself. Scholarships include Kotak, quadeye, etc.

Alcheringa - cultural and technichie - technical fests are great to work and enjoy as well. You get to know a lot of things and a lot of people. Library - all suggested books by the professor are available and in multiple number of copies. And few also in hostel Libraries not only in main Library. Classrooms are spacy and cool and great. We have CCC where we can use computers provided by the college. Sports are great whatever you want to play, you get the kit and a beautiful place to play. No shortage of equipment.

Hostel rooms are good but meals are not thar great honestly. But you get a chance change your mess every month so you get to eat in a good mass. In a room they give you a table, chair and almirah. For btech first 2 years is double occupancy and next 2 years you get a single room

Write jee main first and qualify for jee advanced and clear jee advance to sit through admission for iits. Cut off for general was around 60 and for gen ews which is my category I got a rank of 10k for 93 marks and I got civil at IITG.
