Course Curriculum Overview

The curicullum is designed to be in favour of students. The course allows flexibility to acess interdisciplinary courses. The course also has acess to core placements which have a lower competition as compared to other core fields in the oil industry as well as mining industry. The difficulty level of the course can vary from medium to hard , depending on some of the subjetcs . The curriculum prepares us significantly well for the real world by giving us a hand on experience of this domain with the help of field trips being conducted each year. The exams are conducted for all the departments at the same time, i.e midsemester exams after which there is the end semester exams each semester.

Internships Opportunities

The internship process starts in august for the eligible students, it is for students who are in their pre-final year. The companies that visit are, Google, Microsoft, Mastercard, BCG, Bain etc. The stipends differ with the companies. The roles that usually are offered here are, Consultant, Investment Banking, Software Development, Data Analyst, Product Management as well as core, Supply Chain Analyst etc. Students also go for Research Internships in colleges outside India. Out off 1000 students only 350 students got Internships last year.

Placement Experience

The students in semester 7 for 4 year courses are eligible for campus placements. There were 900 offers made in the first phase of campus placements with 90% students being placed. The highest package offer made was 2.5 Crores on campus, where as for off campus it was 4Crores. The average package is around 30-35Lakh where as the median varies department wise with the average being 19-20LPA. Some of the companies that visited , Google, Microsoft, Mc Kinsey, Goldman Sachs, Master Card etc

Fees and Financial Aid

The tution fees for each semester is 1 lakh rupees and there are other charges along which we have our mess fees which sums up the entier fees for a semester to be approximately 1.4 lakh rupees, there are some charges which are fixed each semester where as the mess charges vary each semester also it varies accordingly to the hall's students have been provided, because of the mess budgets decided by the student body council of each hall. There are many government scholarships available. If your annual income falls below 2.5 Lakh then you are eligible for no tution fees, if your income is below 5 Lakh per annum then your tution fees for each semester will be Rs 33,333.

Campus Life

There are many events frequently being organised at IIT Guwahati, We have our annual cultural fest called Alcheringa which is the largest event in North East, it is held in the month of February. Along with it we have the Tech Fest which is Techniche, which is Asia's one of the largest Techno Management Fest. It is also held in the month of August. Along with it there are many other fests also conducted by many societies as well as departments. There are many clubs here at IIT Guwahati which makes it a very culture friendly college. You can find clubs which will satisfy all your creative needs be it gaming to coding as well as cooking. The campus also has all the sports, academic facilities needed for the proper functioning of the college. All the classrooms are equipped with AC's as it gets quite hot during summers.

Hostel Facilities

Here at IIT Guwahati, stay is the best part, as students are divided into different halls and each hall has its own culture. The mess food depends on the hall you have been alloted with some halls providing amazing food where as some with average. The messes have been kept quite affordable for everyone.All the students admitted to IIT Guwahati have to stay on campus. Many halls provide single rooms where as some are equipped with double occupancy . All the registration is done during the admission process.

Admission

To be eligible for B.S. Exploration Geophysics at IIT Kharagpur, candidates must have qualified JEE Advanced. And admission is done through the JOSAA. The application form is released after the final result for Jee mains and the seat allocation process begins after the Jee Advanced Results. The JEE Advanced Form costs around 2000 for General/OBC Candidates whereas is lower for SC/ST. The cutoff varies each year for BS Exploration Geophysics. The JEE Advanced exam is conducted once each year.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are actually decent. The average package for my branch was around 13.5 LPA last year and branches like CSE, EC and EI have a higher average package generally. The campus is visited by almost all of the top companies including Google, Adobe, Facebook, etc. The detailed placement records are available on the website of the institute.The percentage of students getting placed ranges anywhere between 70 percent to 92 percent. I plan to get an M.Tech degree after completing my B.Tech course from an IIT if possible.

Placement Experience:

Placement of NIT silchar is pretty good. Average package is around 12 Lpa. Although after corona the placement dropped but still it is good. Many big tech companies visit during placement for full time and internship. Core companies also visits for different roles. During our placement season it happens generally after 7th semester. Generally criteria for sitting in any company varies based on cgpa and sometimes 10th and 12th marks depends on company to company generally it is 6 or 7 or 8 cgpa. Good it companies offer 20-30lpa and lowest offer was 6th lpa.
