Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Taking about the course itself is really great whose outcome is a very honourable profession and the curriculum in my college is also great. There are 2 aspects here, theory and practical(clinical). Firstly theory, in govt colleges theory is not so good especially on the teaching side, my opinion is that either remove the theory classes completely or make them those kind of classes where we actually learn something, professors be like in MBBS we won't spoon feed you, you have to learn on your own and they say 75% attendance is necessary to write your finals and all that they do in theory classes is dictate the ppt they bring them with instead you could just remove all the theory classes and just schedule practical's where we actually learn something and which makes us enthusiastic about our course. (And there are few GOLDEN lecturers too who try their best to teach in a more interactive way but they are very rare) and we have 3 internal exams and one final exam which is totally fine.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Internship is a huge deal here, it's when when we actually learn how to speed a true doctor. We get stipends if 35k per month and get to work with a lot of patients as it a govt college we get to work in govt hospital, there are 5 hospitals in our campus including super speciality ones. Honestly this is the major rapeason for students to choose govt colleges I.e the patient flow, the more patients a student gets to see the more he learns the better doctor they'll be

Fees and Financial Aid

In the first year MBBS we have to pay 60k to the NTA for counselling and the tuition fees of this college is only 10k per annum which is the best thing about govt medical colleges and the hostel fee I pay is 4K per month and the hostel is related to college. For medical students lot of scholarships are available both merit based and income based like nsp,ssp etc which give decent amount of scholarships and the 5th year of mbbs students have to do internship with a stipends of 35k per month

Campus Life

4

Fests are moderately frequent in my college but every feet is really amazing. Every year we have the most grand fest in our college and it's called COBALT SKIES, which usually takes place in the month of October. We also have a decent library here which we can access anytime and almost all the books are available of mbbs only obviously. The classrooms are BIG so as to accommodate 250 students and are air conditioned well and have a projector for the professors to access. Sports is a big thing in medical colleges we have a lot of sports fests and all kind of sports are encouraged here. Here the general secretary, cultural secretary and the joint secretary who takes care of all the events are students so we have the most control of what's going on in the campus and clubs are also a big thing, all kinds of clubs are seen here, literature, music bands, art, singing, research etc

Hostel Facilities

3

It's a govt hostel so we can't expect much, the rooms are decent, 3 per room althiugh the room was built as a 2 person one, the food is decent , every Sunday we have a feast with non veg, ice cream and stuff but the overall hostel experience is not bad compared to what we pay for it

Admission

My course is MBBS so I had to write NEET-UG as an entrance exam, in 2023 there were around 25 lakh NEET applicants and number of medical seats were around 1lakh, so competitive wise it's very tough but the difficulty of NEET question paper was moderate. I scored 641 out of 720 which is a decent score if your category is General but mine is OBC-2a so it was a really good score and I was able to get a seat in Karnataka's no:1 medical college. For general category the cutoff was between 665-670(for BMCRI) and my category cut off was around 635 so I got a little lucky there and after getting the results we need to go through counselling and there are 2 types. All India quota and state quota, people with marks of 680+ tend to go to all India quota which gives the others with lesser score an opportunity to get good college in state quota which tend to have more reservations and the most hectic part of this admission for me was the document verification although it didn't pose any problem.

the classes are taken regularly in preclinical and paraclinical subject and some of clinical subjects as well. these are slidepresentation, demonstration and group discussions. there is great learning opportunities. case discusions are done in clinical postings. integrated leaning is not much practiced and would be drawback. library timings are not suitable at all.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very comprehensive and relevant for exams but not for real world applications. I feel let the parts of body I was specially fascinating so I like anatomy very much and we also got a very good teacher, the curriculum is very good for examinations however the real wall applications of this curriculum is very little, they should be more real life applications and whatever the latest technology than studies are happening the student should get the latest info about them, timing between two exams in an internal semester should be a little more such as a day or two because we do not get time to prepare the subjects curriculum very well for the examination.

There is no such improvement is required. We don't have to give soo much exam but the syllabus we have to cover its not much
