Some pros and cons of doing BTech from BCE Bhagalpur

Course curriculum is as usual old. It is not that relevant if you are going for placements and not even relevant for GATE exam. It is just for semester exams. Teachers should solve GATE level questions in class and in fact some teachers are good in teaching so they discuss GATE level questions.

Placements are not high neither in terms of package or number. In campus highest placement is about 7.5 lakh and most of the mass recruiter companies give 3 to 4 LPA job. Here most of the students take civil, mechanical or electrical for getting government job. So they either prepare for government job or for GATE. CSE students who don't get placements they opt for GATE to do MTech and get hired. I have taken Computer Science so I am thinking of giving GATE exam and doing MTech from IIT.

Fee is not that high. At the time of admission Ra 3665 is taken for admission and Rs 2630 is taken per year for maintenance and for semester exams Rs 3700 is taken. Means apart from admission charges only Rs 10030 is taken per year. Hostel is given at just Rs 750 per month and mess charges are Rs 3600 per month. Bihar government also gives post matric scholarship for OBC, SC, ST students per year which is around Rs 20000. Apart from that government also gives students loan upto 4 lakh which is known as Bihar Student Credit Card (BSCC). One can also teach children in nearby locality to meet his/her expenses.

Timely sports events are organised by Bihar Engineering University in which Intra college and Inter college competition is held. Then tech fest like Technoriti is organised by college in the month of March where technical events like Robo war, aqua bot, competitive programming, bridge making, photography, videography and many more events are held where other colleges also participate and along with it UMANG ( cultural program ) is also organised where regional stars like singers and DJ is invited to perform. Library is full of course and technology related books, you won't find any novels there but for GATE exam there are plenty of resources. We have CTR club(Campus TV and Radio), Debuggerz ( coding club ), Hurdang ( Nukkad natak club ), ESROS( Robotics club) which helps students learn technical and management skills and have a healthy competition.

Hostel is good. There is double bed room upto 3rd year and in 4th year you will get single room. But if you get good marks in 2nd year then single room is alloted for you in 3rd year. Hostel charge is around 750 per month and mess charges is around 3600 per month. There is one hostel in charge who comes after dinner for inspection. Sweepers also come everyday to clean the room. Mess is in the ground floor of every hostel. Food quality is normal and sufficient. To take hostel just hostel allotment form needed to be filled and payment needed to be done. There is sufficient space for accomodation but still if anyone wants to live outside the hostel then nearer to Gate 1 or 2 PGs and lodges are made which charge 1500 for sharing room and 2500 for single room.

For getting into this college you need to search UGEAC councelling then bceceboard website appears. After registration it releases its own rank list on the basis of JEE Mains rank. My JEE Mains rank was 65699 and UGEAC rank was 90. My admission was granted at night ( 12 AM ) as document verification process was too slow, which I think should be improved.
