Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course metallurgical and materials engineering deals with the various kinds of materials in our lives and how to analyze materials and improve their performance in certain aspects. The curriculum is very well structured in that it gives us students an idea of how we can use the knowledge we gained in our studies for real-life applications and also gives us the ambition to further our studies. The course curriculum is impeccable in my opinion. The exams are placed at perfect intervals to not allow us time to laze around.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Companies like Jindal Steel and Accenture provide internship opportunities for the students. They conduct a preliminary exam and the students who qualify in them are then picked to undergo GD and PI. They provide decent stipends.

Placement Experience

3.5

The campus placement starts around August and is in full swing by December and January. There will be many tech companies making placement offers in December and January. The minimum salary is 10 LPA and the maximum salary during placement differs each year but is roughly around 45 LPA. The average salary during placements in 12-15 LPA. A student can also consider getting an MBA after getting their degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

GEN & OBC Institute Fee - Rs.100000 Tuition Fee - Rs.15000 Hostel Fee - Rs.18000 Total Fee - Rs.133000 SC & ST Institute Fee - Rs.0 Tuition Fee - Rs.15000 Hostel Fee - Rs.18000 Total Fee - Rs.33000 There has been an increment in the hostel and mess fee almost every year and this is not completely acceptable. The students can avail scholarships from the ERP website based on merit and they can also avail of any scholarship opportunities provided by the central governments.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life here is a bit exciting with it having 4 fests; E-Summit, Wissenare, Alma Fiesta & Ashvamedha. They are generally held in the starting months of every year and bring a lot of fun and enjoyment to the student's life. The library is decently sized with average reach to books regarding non-academic areas but is sufficiently equipped to meet the academic needs of a student. The classrooms have all the facilities a student can want. The campus is built over an extremely large area of land thereby allowing it to have a playground for many different kinds of sports and games. Clubs here are focused on Drama, Economics, Coding, Singing, and many more and allow the students to acquire and improve different skills that might help them in real life.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The rooms allotted to students are single occupancy and very comfortable to stay in. The menu in the hostels covers many varieties and the taste is up to standard levels and by no means is it extraordinary. There is no separate procedure to register for the hostel as all students are required to stay on the campus. The hostel and mess is affordable though it is a bit overpriced when compared to the other institutions.

Admission

I have been admitted into the 4 year B.Tech Metallurgical & Minerals Engineering in the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. I got the seat after I cleared my JEE Advanced in the year 2021. The exam takes place only once a year after the JEE Mains exams are completed and the qualified candidates can apply to write the JEE Advanced exam to get a chance at securing a seat in IITs. After the Jee Advanced exam is completed and the results are released there will be a counseling website through which you can apply for NITs or IITs. The counseling website is published on the web by the government and after the choices are fixed, the counseling process takes place round after round and you get a seat based on your choices. The frequency of exams is just right and will give students ample time for preparation. The JEE advanced exam is one of the toughest exams in India. There should be more time between seat acceptance and reporting to the institute.

The highest package was 32 LPA and the average goes to 5-6LPA. The percentage goes to 90 % for placements. After getting degree you can go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Placements at KIIT University for B.Tech CSE are decent and well structured, especially for students who prepare consistently. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester, although pre placement talks training sessions and internships start from the 5th or 6th semester. The university has a centralized placement cell that coordinates training aptitude tests mock interviews and company drives. Many reputed companies visit the campus every year including TCS Infosys Wipro Accenture Cognizant Capgemini Deloitte EY Mindtree LTI Bosch HP Amazon and a few product based startups. Mass recruiters make a large number of offers while product and service based companies offer selective roles. The average package for CSE students usually ranges between 4 to 5 LPA, while the highest package can go above 20 to 25 LPA in exceptional cases depending on the company and role such as software developer or data engineer. Around 75 to 85 percent of CSE students get placed through campus placements. Students who remain unplaced usually pursue higher studies startups off campus jobs or competitive exam preparation. Placement success largely depends on individual effort coding skills internships and communication ability. After completing my degree I plan to work in the software industry to gain practical experience and improve my technical skills. Alongside my job I also plan to upskill in advanced technologies and later consider higher studies or specialized roles depending on career growth.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIIT Bhubaneswar are generally good and improving, especially for students who stay consistent with coding, projects, and internships. In my college, students usually become eligible for campus placements from around the 7th semester (4th year), while many students start getting internship opportunities and pre-placement offers from the 5th–6th semester itself depending on skills. Every year, companies from the software and IT domain visit the campus for roles like Software Developer / SDE, QA, Analyst, Web Developer, and sometimes Data-related roles, and students also get offers through off-campus applications. Some of the common recruiters include companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, along with product/startup opportunities depending on the year, and multiple students receive more than one offer as well. The highest package and average package vary every year and depend a lot on branch, performance, and market conditions, but overall the college provides decent placement support and training sessions like aptitude, DSA guidance, and interview preparation. The placement percentage is also fairly good for students who actively participate in the placement process, while the rest generally go for higher studies or off-campus roles. After completing my degree, my plan is to either secure a good software developer role through campus/off-campus and build experience, or if I feel more interested academically, I may prepare for higher studies or competitive exams along with improving my skills.

Campus placement i thik it's in your 4 year of engineering only i.e in your 6 semester. There is a lot of companies visited like jsw ,hindulgo and a lot to go . Jsw provides avg package of INR 12 LPA And it selected only 2 students only. I think girls get placement easily as compared to boys ... companies usually select more female candidates....I think I will go for job rather than doing masters degree.
