Remarks

Overall, KIIT is one of the best private colleges. The placement scenario is decent but can be improved a lot if they bring more core companies. The management is at best, average and sometimes can be frustrating. The college has all facilities, and it is up to the students to make the best use out of everything that is offered.

Entrance Preview

I took JEE, BITSAT, VIT and KIITEE. Cleared JEE mains by a small margin, but couldn't score well in JEE Advance and so couldn't get into a good government college (also because of board marks weight-age in our year). Got through VIT and KIITEE with decent ranks. Opted for KIIT since they had their counselling before VIT and I was impressed after visiting the college and also by the reviews I received from my tutors.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course is well structured as per the norms. Open electives are offered giving students choice. The college provides course books for every semester. Syllabus book is also provided which has the whole course structure of all streams in one place. The course curriculum is at par with the standards.

Internships Opportunities

The internship scenario is a little weak as the college doesn't really put emphasis on it. The college also has an E-cell which organizes internship camps every year where interested students can participate and bag internships.

Placement Experience

3.5

KIIT has a decent record with respect to campus placements. My senior batches had a better placement scenario than my batch. Almost 140+ companies have visited so far this year (for 2018 graduating batch) including companies like Deloitte, Mu Sigma, Accenture, Microsoft, SAP Labs, Robert Bosch, IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Amazon, Ericsson, ZS Associates etc. The highest package was offered by Adobe (CTC - 39 LPA). Lowest packages are around 1.5 to 1.8 lacs per annum. The average package is around 4 lacs. Mostly IT companies visit the college for placements and the placements in core companies are very less. Till now, around 75-80% of the students have been placed. The placements for CS/IT and Electronics departments are the best while Civil, Electrical and Mechanical see the lowest placements. The college has an excellent training and placement cell which works hard to train the students by organizing regular mock tests, GDs and PIs. Overall the placements are pretty decent compared to other private colleges in India.

College Events

5

The college organizes a plethora of events every year including MUNs, quizzes, dance, drama and anything you can think of. The KIIT fest is also organized at a big level with numerous events of every kind and many celebrities visiting for performances and workshops. The campus crowd is also decent and connectivity is great. The college encourages extracurricular activities and also provides scholarships for the toppers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is on the expensive side. It has increased a lot since I joined. Though you get an amazing campus life, full of every facility you can think of, but at the end of the day, you have to pay for it. The approximate fees of my 4 year B.Tech course was around Rs. 12 lacs. And currently it is around Rs. 15 lacs (including hostel stay and mess food)

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provided scholarships for toppers and there was loan facility offered as well, but since I didn't opt for it, I have little idea about the same.

Campus Life

4.5

Infrastructure is one of the strongest points of KIIT. It had a decent diversification with respect to genders. The college has an excellent infrastructure with almost every facility one could ask for in a college; like huge standalone campuses for each branch with respective sports and fitness centers, swimming pools, Open air theaters, library cum reading rooms, huge auditoriums, 24*7 functioning food courts, robust transport facilities, decent student activity center (place for all the extra-curricular activities you can think of), full campus WiFi hotspots, well equipped and air-conditioned classrooms and labs, 24*7 medical facilities and a plethora of other amenities. I never faced any infrastructure related issues during my tenure in the college.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facilities are very good in my opinion. The non A.C. rooms were shared by 3 students while the A.C. rooms had provision of 2 students with attached washroom. The hostels are well maintained with 24x7 water, electricity and Wi-Fi facilities. Any issue were resolved quickly. Each room had a bed, study table with chair and a cupboard for each student. The mess food was okayish. Some day, they served good food, while others were just not eatable. The overall fees was 65000 per year including hostel stay and food. The A.C. rooms were more expensive.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the college is pretty strong and active. All the seniors I knew were really helpful and interaction was very friendly. Had a great time with all the seniors and learn a lot from them.

Exam Structure

The exam structure was pretty chill compared to other colleges. The 100 marks breakdown of the subject is - 25 (Mid sems) + 15(Internal; based on attendance and quizzes) + 60 (End sem). So overall, we just had to give 2 exams and some class tests. The labs were also systematic, but they were a little hectic because every of writing manuals.

Admission

All the information for the entrance exam was available on the college's website (kiit.ac.in). The exam was free of cost. The results came online as well and we were called based on our ranks. The counselling was pretty well managed. They had made everything clear. You could get your desired stream if it was available when your turn came as per your rank. I was fortunate to get the stream I wanted.

Faculty

3

The college is a mixed bag with respect to the faculties. Although all teachers are highly qualified, some of them really struggle with teaching the concepts. The teachers are helpful overall and they use decent teaching methods as well. There is no such industry exposure per semester. The college has a feedback system to be filled by the students rating the faculties over a number of categories. The college allots tutor/mentors for student group of around 30 who are sort of the immediate guardian in the college and can help with student related issues.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We specifically study about circuit analysis and electrical machines in our electrical engineering. In laboratory we study about how electrical machines work in different circuits and different connections. We also study about analog electronics circuit. We are tested in our laboratory to perform practicals. We are also given assignments and questioned well in our viva to prepare us for our future campus selections. The question paper is equally difficult to make us ready for seminars and project preparation.
