What Students Say
Likes
- The thing which I liked the most is the fees structure is very reasonable and affordable. They are charging a very nominal amount for the subject fees, exmas and books.
- A working professional can easily pursue the course along with a regular job as there is no mandate to attend classes and no attendancr criteria is there.
- All the study material and books are easily available online in soft copies or you can easily purchase from their website which will be sent via post.
Dislikes
- The admission process can get a bit lengthy and time taking as I had go search for everything on my own.
- Their student support is not good, most of time support person is not contactable in case of any doubts or queries.
- Lack of opportunities in terms of campis life , social life and placement.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as I was looking for a disctance course in management. The major reason for going with this university is that the fees was under my budget. The faculty is very good, we can attend online classes in weekends and the students can join from Pan India so it is not feasible for the teacher to take doubt of each and every student. They teach and explain the subject topic wise and then we can post our doubts. Also, they are available on whatsapp or email for any doubts. Overall the faculties are really experienced , most of the faculty is PHD holders. Now, talking about the exams it is divided into two parts, first is the assignments and second is the final theory exams. Assignments contains 30% weightage and are necessary to submit. The term exams are conducted timely in proper study centres. It is not very difficult to pass the exams if you go through the last year question papers thoroughly. If you have attempted all the questions with right answers then you can pass.
Fees and Financial Aid
In the beginning I submitted around INR 12,000/- which included the first semester fees and admission fess. The fees for the entire course is divided semester wise. For each semester again it is divided subject wise, I took 5 subjects in the first semester, each subject fees is INR 1,800/- so the total is INR 9,000/- . And same goes on for the other semesters as well depending on the number of subjects the total fees will vary. Apart from the subject fees, INR 150/- exam fees is also there for each subject. So overall you can say approximately INR 60,000-75,000/- fees will be paid for thr entire degree. Now talking about the opportunities for scholarship or financial assistance, there is no such option available.
Campus Life
There areno annual fest or tech fest conducted in my university. It is a distance course so charges need to be paid for purchsing the books and they will send the books by post. No extra curricular activities conducted on the campus. Talking about the social groups the students themselves are running few groups on whatsapp and telegram so that students from the same courses can connect and discuss their doubts or share notes.
Admission
For the admission, I searched online and compared the fees for all universities providing distance course. According to fees, Ignou was under my budget and I gave an entrance test Openmat which included general knowledge and reasoning questions. Cutoff of openmat was 50%. Once I cleared openmat, then filled the application form online and they called to head office for the submission of documents and filled the first semester fees in advance Inr 12,000/-. After around one month, I got the identity card and an online portal was made to check all the details and notifications. One drawback is that the university does not give notifications itself, we have to regulary check the website to get updates. Overall the process is pretty simple, only improvement that the university can make is to make the process online and give timely notifications. If someone is looking for a disctance course under budget, then I would definitely recommend to go with Ignou.
