If a student did get into the university passing the entrance FEE exam, he/she would experience a beautiful campus, opportunity to socialize well and technical stuff to learn. I would say if you pass along with time you might end up getting a good GPA but not be technically sound. Students have to prepare by themselves for the advanced stuff in their field. University should change from a money oriented perspective. It has to incorporate a much more ambitious environment in the campus so that the student gets motivated. Professors should be selected based on teaching ability as well. University should be much more cooperative with students to form new and diverse clubs. Keeping aside the complaints, a student can have a pretty good time(technically) at GITAM University (VSP), if he/she plans along the way properly. Can have lots of fun with friends in the beautiful city of destiny and cherish the moments once you pass out. In the end you wouldn't like

Admission to GITAM (any Campus) is through GAT (GITAM Admission test). SInce I am a Vizagite, and GITAM is one of the top universities in Vizag, I gave the exam and got admitted. There is no interview process to be followed up with. My aim is to pursue a career in Electronics since childhood. So there wasn't much of a hassle in which branch to choose.

GITAM , Vsp has a good Electronics and Communications course but not pretty strong. The syllabus can be upgraded and the depth of the topics reached should be increased. Practical learning is considerably good but the evaluation is not upto mark which under qualifies what we practically learn. As far as I know the research initiatives are in low standards and are confined within Professors (mostly HODs). Elective options weren't that great. And electives must be a choice from 2nd year itself. We had electives in final year only and most of the mentioned ones arent taught. Those which are taught depend on the strength of the students choosing them. So only 2 electives were given and strength generally gets distributed among them.

No, GITAM (VSP) doent not provide any internship. You are expected to fins your intern and report back to them which is a shame!

Literally everybody gets placed. Its was a 100% in 2015. Mostly IT companies visit namely TCS, Wipro, Portware, Infosys(if TCS doesnt show up) Accenture, Mu Sigma, Google(not so frequent), Yahoo(not so frequent) . Non IT companies like L&T, Mahindra, etc

Fests aren't that great at GITAM(Vsp). They are restricted from being a big event by the organisation. Tollywood actors/actress sometimes showup though. Cricket is mostly the football at GITAM. We did have some football matches though.

Fee is humongous compared to other private and public universities around the city. 2015 pass outs had a fee of Rs 1,40,000. Currently its trending at 2,50,000.

The University does provide merit based scholarship but only to students whose family income is less than 2 Lakhs pa. No, the university did not help in getting a loan.

Extracurricular's are good. Students have an avenue called Kalakrithi for drama, dance and singing. I did get to explore my inner talents. Facilities for games are provided by the University. You can have good fun.

I was a day scholar. The hostel rooms are pretty decent and spacious. They are sharing rooms and no PGs are allowed. 2015 Alumni ended up paying roughly around 70,000 apart from the tuition. The food is good. You might get bored though.

There is no strong platform for student-alumni interaction.

No, they are not that hectic. If a student plans for the mid terms and labs well, he/she should be fine. If its a last minute prep, you can get screwed. The general culture be it in any university will be a chill one if you follow the latter scenario, otherwise its not. Just saying.

The faculty is well qualified. But a teacher is to be judged based on his/her teaching ability. You can find faculty in all grades from useless to extraordinary in ECE branch (Vsp campus). They are pretty much interactive and friendly. You wouldn't have any problem regarding it.
