Remarks
Overall experience has been wonderful. The Anti-ragging environment where freshers are not treated as inferior and a friendly environment prevail inside the campus. Our college is sound in both academics and extracurricular activities be it sports, dance, drama, debates or any other activity. It is fun to be here and learn new things everyday. The only thing I didn't like was the campus. The campus is very beautiful but it is very small as compared to other universities.
Entrance Preview
I got my admission through the JEE Main exam. You cannot take admission in this college without clearing JEE MAINS. Admission is provided to students only on the basis of the JEE ranks. College has a 2 day counselling session and admission for all the Institutes of Jaypee can be done from here. No interview process is followed while taking in students as it is all based on JEE ranks. I chose this course in this college because of the quality of education and placements here. It is one of the best private engineering college. I have heard that engineering has a good scope so I chose engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course I'm studying here is really good as it focuses on practical aspects of learning. The teachers take equal interest in teaching and make the lectures more interactive hence it facilitates more learning. Many research initiatives have been taken by the institute so that students can implement their ideas in a more pragmatic way. College does organize various International conferences for students to present their research papers. The various elective fields available in the university are CSE, IT, Bio-tech, ECE, Mtech, Integrated CSE and Integrated ECE.
Internships Opportunities
Being a fresher I have a very little knowledge about the functioning of this institution but no internship is provided by the college but it is compulsory to do a technical internship at the end of the third year as it counts in the first semester of the fourth year. Since our college has a prime location ie Delhi-NCR, the opportunities for internships are very large. Students in our college start doing internship from the 1st year itself in various fields of their interest. My 2 friends are doing graphic designing internship in a company named WedhiaTech getting a stipend of 3,000 per month.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario has been really good. Most of the students get placed through campus itself. Many big MNC's and other companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Infosys, SAP, WeDoSky, Wipro, Cognizant visit the college and students get lot of opportunities to portray their talents and knowledge to attain their desired jobs. Students have to give certain aptitude tests, group discussions and other exams to qualify for the final interview of the companies. Deloitte is the most popular company among students after Amazon. I do not know much details about the placements as I am still in first year.
College Events
There are a lot of events held in our college. The recent ones were Ebullience(Fresher's party) and Joust (The literary event of JIIT). Converge and Impressions are the Cultural fest of our college branches Sec128 and Sec62 respectively. The fests are organized on a big scale and I've heard that more than 6000 students visit college during fests. Big companies sponsor the main events in our college. The JIIT Youth Club(JYC) organises the large events and fund the other hubs. Jaypee MUN is one of the biggest and famous MUN in the north. Fun Sports Meet, Cyber Srishti-Technical fest and various seminars keep happening throughout the year. TEDxJIIT first edition was organised recently in the college.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is moderately high and certainly not affordable for people belonging to weak economic background. The fees is 1.9 lakh per year for B.Tech excluding the hostel fee. An year is divided into 2 semesters where the fees of each semester estimates to almost 1 lakh. The fees is genuine, if we look at the facilities provided by the college authorities, however I feel it could be reduced.
Fees and Financial Aid
I personally did not avail any kind of scholarship but scholarships are provided to meritorious students who score good in each year of their graduation. I remember reading some information about scholarship on the college website. Many banks support the college so the camps of various banks like ICICI, HDFC were there on the admission day. Although I didn't avail for any loan but my friends told that it was easy to get loan through those banks.
Campus Life
A lot of extracurricular activities happen in our college. It helps a student to explore his talents and reach out for the maximum benefit.Although college authorities support very less in this but activities keep on going. There are many hubs like JPEG-photography hub, Mcr- robotics hub, IEEE, Jhankaar- Dance hub, JEB-economics hub and in total around 26 technical and non technical hubs. I attended orientations of many hubs and have become a part of few of them. Sports facilities are very less. Only the month when the Fun Sports Meet was organised then only I saw a lot of sports happening. On a regular basis it is very less.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are really good. Cleanliness is always taken care of. The college has double sharing rooms and choices for room partner and floors/wings is given second year onwards. The quality of food is also good. There are many PGs or flats available near the college where many students stay when they do not get a seat in the hostel. Hostel preference is given on a rank wise basis during admission.
Alumni/Alumna
Since I'm new to this college I haven't witnessed any student-alumni meet till now. So I've no idea about the same. It will be a better way to understand the insights of the college if such a meet is held for the students.
Exam Structure
Yes. Exams and labs are frequent. JIIT has 3 exams in a semester (T1-T2-T3) and it becomes very exhaustive. T1 and T2 are for 20 marks each and T3 is for 35 marks. It does get tiring when one has to give exams in every 1.5 months. Proper schedule is followed for both internal and external exams. Attendance for the lab is compulsory and a student can miss maximum 3-4 labs in a semester.
Faculty
Highly qualified faculty with a lot of teaching experience all having Mtech or PhD degrees. All the professors have specialized in the courses they teach and provide interactive learning. The student-teacher interaction, helps students learn better and help them clear their basic to basic concepts. Students can visit the faculty any time and easily discuss there queries. The standard of teaching is very high and the same has been maintained since a very long time. Though, our seniors say that some teachers are quite rude but I haven't experienced any such things.
