What Students Say

Likes

Classrooms, because they are air conditioned.
Faculties, because they are quite helpful and supportive.
Location, the location where it is situated is very beautiful and surrounded by hills and lakes.

Dislikes

There is no auditorium in our college which definately affect the large cultural fests.
Being a badminton player I strongly want our college to build a good badminton court.
The mess is sometimes not edible and therefore I had to eat from outside or order something.

Course Curriculum Overview

Our faculty members at NIT Jamshedpur are quite good and helpful. There are many courses at NIT Jamshedpur but I got Mechanical Engineering not because I wanted but because my marks were not good enough to get Computer Science. The faculty members are all qualified from good nits and iits. The exams here were quite difficult to pass.

Internships Opportunities

There are so many companies which offer great internship programs for UG students especially. Most of the companies are tech-based. They also offer a good amount of money. I am totally satisfied with our college in this field.

Placement Experience

The placements are the main factor why students prefer this college over some other nits. Campus placements are offered and are quite high. The previous year the highest package was 84 lakhs per annum. The companies which visit here are Amazon, Google, Goldman Sachs, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees in Nit Jamshedpur are very low compared to other private colleges, iiits, iits or even some nits. And even if you are not good financially then also there are so many scholarships which you can avail.

Campus Life

My life so far at NIT Jamshedpur has been awesome. Social life here is very good. There are so many clubs which you can join according to your interests. There are so many books in the library which you can read. And the library is also very silent. The club which I'm in is Urja which is the sports club.

Hostel Facilities

The rooms are good in size. In 1st year you have to share your room with 1 more guy. But in second year you'll get your personal room. The hostel mess are not so good but they sometimes offer good food.

Hostel Fee: INR 30000 per year

Admission

The admission process was quite easy. We had to take an entrance exam called Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains. After getting qualified in this exam we have to apply for counselling. This counselling was divided into two parts josaa counselling and csab counselling. The cutoffs in the Josaa counselling are a little higher than the csab counselling. I too got nit jamshedpur mechanical in the csab round.

Overall Review of NIT Jamshedpur

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

A Genuine Review

Placement Experience:

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

I applied for NIT Raipur NIT Durgapur and NIT prayagraj I selected this college NIT Jamshedpur because it has top class placement and the branch I was getting as mechanical engineering which is a decent branch. I got rejected from NIT prayagraj due to little less rank . The admission process of my colleges you have to qualify JEE mains with around 95 percentile to get any branch as a general student then you have to go for Josaa counselling in which you will be a lot at the seat . I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment.
