Course Curriculum Overview

I chose mechanical engineering because that was I was able to get according to my jee rank.There are about 650 students in an academic year or batch and about 100 facult members. Faculties are PhD holders and have completed their degrees from IIT/NIT's.Exams are conducted 2 times a semester.

Internships Opportunities

Internship starts in the 3 year of our btech. With almost 75 percent of the students getting a internship at the end of the 3rd year. Great companies arrived last year as well as this year too. So overall experience is great.

Placement Experience

Placement is the primary factor for opting NIT JAMSHEDPUR as placements are great as it exceeds the average package 15 lakhs per annum with 99 percent of students getting placed. Coding culture is also great here.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are predefined by the government as it is a government college. Fees are generally 1 to 1.1 lakhs per semester. However there are financial assistance provided to families with yearly income of 5 lakhs and below.

Campus Life

Campus Life is great here as there are lots of clubs and teams. There are cultural and technical teams. Library is also well stocked. Sporting culture is also very good here. Classrooms are well equipped with air conditioners.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are nice as in 1st year students are given for accommodation of 2 students in a room. But from 2nd year forward we are given a single room which is quite large. Mess is great here with good quality of food.

Hostel Fee: INR 48000 per year

Admission

Admission process is done by JOSSA and entrance exam is jee main. Application fees and dates are provided by NTA in a specific year. There are reservation based on PWD, SC/ST,OBC,EWS and female candidates.

Overall Review of NIT Jamshedpur

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

A Genuine Review

Placement Experience:

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

I applied for NIT Raipur NIT Durgapur and NIT prayagraj I selected this college NIT Jamshedpur because it has top class placement and the branch I was getting as mechanical engineering which is a decent branch. I got rejected from NIT prayagraj due to little less rank . The admission process of my colleges you have to qualify JEE mains with around 95 percentile to get any branch as a general student then you have to go for Josaa counselling in which you will be a lot at the seat . I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment.
