Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is amazing and advanced. I chose this course because Amity is the best private university in India, and you get a lot of exposure and opportunities to advanced technology. Faculty:Student ratio is 1:3, and all the faculty members are knowledgeable and helpful. Most faculty members hold a Ph.D. and have been doing exceptional research work in their respective fields. The minor exams, presentations, and semester exams are on time and the exam is moderate to difficult.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There are two mandatory internships in this course. The first one is after the 2nd semester i.e. before the start of the 2nd year of your degree. It is a 5-week internship that has credits and you have to find your internship, with some help from the faculty members. You can either do it or any government institute or a private laboratory. The projects can be anything related to your subject and you have to submit the results every week as well as at the end of the internship. This is just to get you introduced to the process and format of the main internship, which is your dissertation project in the 4th semester. It follows the same pattern, but the duration is around 4-6 months. You have to submit your thesis and give a presentation of your work.

Placement Experience

4

From 3rd semester onwards, students are eligible to apply for placements. Some of the companies are Dabur, Reliance Life Sciences, 4BaseCare, etc. The highest packages go around 6 LPA, while the average package is LPA. Almost all the students who opt for placements do get placed i.e. about 90%. Most of the students opt for higher studies though. I am preparing for an entrance exam to get admission for a Ph.D.

Fees and Financial Aid

The first two semesters' fees are 51000 each and the next two semesters are 54000 each. If you have good academic records, you have a chance of getting a scholarship. The security deposit of 20000 Rupees needs to be paid in the first semester, which will be refunded after the completion/ discontinuation of the course. I did not opt for placement because I went for higher studies, but there are multiple opportunities and good assistance for getting a job.

Campus Life

5

This is the best part of being a student of Amity. There is an annual fest named Amity Youth Festival. usually in March. A lot of fun activities, dances, and shows are there. A lot of celebrities also come during the fest. The central library in Amity Noida is the best library you can have in regards to the number and types of books, the interior, facilities as well as the whole aura of it. Classrooms are bright, well-maintained, and have a centralized AC system and projectors. The campus has professional-level courts for Badminton, Tennis, Basketball, Cricket and a swimming pool as well. The gym is also there inside the campus. There are multiple clubs which you can join like Badminton, Singing, Dance club etc.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There are two types of hostels AC and non-AC hostel. The rooms are normal in size and well-maintained, provided with a bed, a mattress, a study table, a chair, and an almirah. In the non-AC hostel, each room is shared by two people and 3 rooms (6 people) share the same toilet and bathroom. In the AC hostel, you get an individual room and there is a common hall and toilet-bathroom shared between 4 people. There are three big canteens, where you can get North/South Indian food and meals. Apart from those two, there are multiple options to eat including Domino's, Subway, Dosa House, Nirula's, Amul, Bikano, Megabites, and a restaurant as well. There is a WH Smith as well. Hostel registration is through the website of the university and it is quite affordable considering you get free laundry service and cleaning service. You can rent a room or a PG nearby college, in Sector 126 or even other sectors which are around 3-4 km like Sector-99, 104, etc.

Admission

The eligibility is a Bachelor's degree (B.Sc./B.Tech.) in Life Sciences /Microbiology /Biotechnology or related fields. The application form can be found on the website of Amity University. The application fee is 1100 Rupees per form. The application dates get extended and you can take admission in July /August /September or even one month before the start of the 1st semester. The application process is quite smooth and friendly. If you have any doubts regarding anything, you can call the helpline numbers. One can even visit the campus and the department before finalizing the admission.

Interview Experience

4.5

There is an interview for selection for the course. It can either be a face-to-face interview or a Zoom call or even they can give 3 questions which you will have to answer in 3 videos and submit. The admission process is quite smooth and you get assistance throughout the process. You can go through the YouTube videos which share the general questions asked during an interview and the video format questions as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This is a postgraduate course so I took admitted to this course because I want to become a lecturer (Professor). So after doing this I want to pursue a doctorate degree. Teacher student ratio in this course is 1:60 In this college, there are both permanent faculty and guest faculty. Permanent faculty has better teaching skills than the guest faculty because the majority of them are students who pursue doctorate degrees under the guidance of this college's Professors. They generally lack experience. The teaching method is excellent for permanent faculty. Exams are held timely. One is held in the month of December and the other in May. There are four semesters in this course. The paper level is difficult. One needs a descriptive knowledge of the subject to score good marks in examinations. Previous year papers can provide a lot of help.
