Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I wanted to become a doctor so I chose mbbs. A/q to nmc the ratio is perfect, but not all colleges follow it, or they are not able to maintain it. The qualification of faculty can not be questioned, everyone meets the criteria to become a professor. However the pedagogy used by them is a bit old. The faculty uses projectors and teach via the powerpoint. Its good and modern too but just reading the slides is not going to work. Mbbs is really tough, the syllabus is huge and difficult to understand, it's not as easy as engineering to pass just by studying single night. You have to burn the midnight oil most of the time. The college conducts exams quarterly and a final exam at the end of year. In some colleges semester system is followed but in mine, proffessional exams are held yearly. It's not a cakewalk to pass. You have to start seriously a month before to pass the exam, students do fail in mbbs. No doubt it's the toughest field in world

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly college fees = 50,000/- appx. May decrease in subsequent years Total 5 year fees= 250000. Hostel fees= 3500/- yearly Mess fess= 3000/- monthly Scholarship is provided by central government to SC, ST ,OBC students on economic basis. Scholarship amount varies from 48000 for obc to 58000 for ST students annualy. Your college fees can be easily paid by this money. After 4.5 years of we are supposed to do compulsory 1year internship in college, for which we are paid about 15000/- month. Aftet the internship is over, we are suppose to fulfill the rural bond of two years. For which we re supposed to work in a government hospital in village or town. Monthly salary about 60000/- , varies from place to place. More in village, less in town. After that you are free to work outside the setup or continue doing the work

Campus Life

1

Rhythm is the annual fest held every year in our college. The only big fest. Various small programs continue to exist through the year No tech fest Books and journals are available in the library. Reading room is also available to study Class rooms are well air-conditioned, enough seats. However classes are not cleaned on regular basis. No sports facility A few social groups, that too not serious Dire need of students club These things are not looked properly in state run government colleges. The college always has a single problem of lack of funds. The central run colleges are flooded with money whereas the state run barely survive

Hostel Facilities

2

College does not have enough hostel rooms to accomodate students. They have to take a government housing apartment for fresher students Single Room for 3 people in main hostel A room has balcony, beds, study table, chair along with Almirah on wall. Common toilet in one floor. Seperate hostel for boys and girls Hostel mess is average, it is regularly monitored. Hostel registration occurs along with the admission process. It can also be availed later Rooms for rent are available, more easily for girls. In sarkanda locality, better raffordable rooms are available.

Admission

We are admitted in the institute via a commom medical entrance test aka NEET. This is a common test for admission in any medical college in India. Every year lakhs of students take the exam and only a few make through it. Eligibility criteria: 1.Students of class 12th with PCB or PCM+biotechnology are eligible 2.17 years of age 3. Qualified the exam. The exam is conducted on national level by NTA, all the details are available in its site. Reservation in seats available for EWS OBC [Non creamy layer] ST SC PWd students. Central pool quota for students of north east. No concession in admission fees, however scholarship are easily available for backward classes on economic basis. The admission process is good, systematic, transparent. However improvements can be made in allotment of seats. Only single list should be considered, no 2nd round or mop up. The state and central conselling must be combined, single authority to carry out the process

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main aspect that influenced me is the externals and clinicals that made by decision to take this course because more than theory is the postings and clinicals which are neccessary to become a good doctor and also helps you to gain confidence. This is not just a curriculum but is a priority academics that prepares a student to save ones life which is far more important than just learning or reading. And yes it prepares us very well through clinicals and postings in addition to theory lectures or exams. As per my view, improvements in posting durations is very important than theory durations due to the priority. And yes teaching methods may get improve if some more fresh cadavers may get introduced in college every year. Exam are held in two phases, 3 terminals and 1 final. 3 terminals are held whole year with 3 to 4 months gap and finals at the end of the semester which is the final exam. Terminals exams are easy and quick whereas finals are tough and time consuming.

Course Curriculum Overview:

If you're getting into MBBS, you have cleared neet and you have a slight idea of what you're getting yourself into. The subjects are tough, especially anatomy, because of the vastness of the subject. But if you're consistent and making lil efforts everyday, it's achievable without hampering the fun part of college life. Here are a few gem of resources that everyone uses for first year. Biochemistry - jambhulkar notes, Vasudevan/ satyanarayan book Lippincott for advanced studies Physiology - Sembulingam and Guyton. I swear by them. It doesn't get any simpler than this. Ganong for in depth studies Anatomy - Johari for exams Vishram Singh for easy to understand language and super simple diagrams Gray's anatomy for in depth understanding. Embryology - vishram Singh Histology - IB Singh Dissection - Cunningham or Mercy Navis There will be 2 terminal exams 1 pre University and then the final University. Don't rely on lectures to prepare you for this. You'll have to teach yoursel

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as it was my parents dream and during childhood my paediatrician also inspired me to become a DR. This college has good faculties. In a subject department there is 1 HOD( head of department), 1 assistant professor,1associate professor, 2-3 demonstrator and many management workers. They are very helpful. Also there are 60 students so it is very helpful for students to understand what professor says. There is good communication between students and professors overall I would say a good bonding is there. All faculties MBBS graduated though some have done PHD also but they have good teaching experiences to make a student understand everything. There are 2 internal exams which are average to pass and one University exam in which you have to pass to go to next year. You have to give a supplementary exam if you fail the University exam or the final exam.
