Remarks

No bad remark could be made for my college. I think none who has ever got into here can either. The College common room, the famous Canteen of RAMU DA, every single day that I attended the college would be a treasure in my heart.

Entrance Preview

It was based on the entrance exam conducted by the college. I got 7th rank in the test and managed to earn a seat in this reputed college. At that time it was the only college in the vicinity and the next college was 15 km far. More over I got the subject of my choice. That made me choose this college. Most importantly It was a government college and the faculty of English Department were really praiseworthy.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

It was a good course curriculum. It was then under Calcutta University course curriculum. The Honours course consisted of 800 marks and Pass course consisted of 600 marks. Part one consisted of 400 marks of Hons subject and 600 marks of Pass subject and 100 marks of compulsory english/ Bengali

Internships Opportunities

I don't have specific knowledge in this matter. Actually when I was the student of this institute I can't remember anyone getting such thing.

Placement Experience

4

When I was the student of this institute there was no such vocational course offered to the students. so there was no placement cell as such. But most of the students who are pass outs from this college are well established in different fields of our society nowadays. One of the students of this college Mr. Gautam Deb had become the minister of West Bengal government. Actually, this college bears the rich heritage of Culture and Sentiment of Taki. Of late the college runs under Barasat state university and there perhaps are a number of vocational courses introduced.

College Events

4

The College used to arrange Nabin Baran Utsab every year to welcome the new admissions. It was a much-awaited celebration for each student I think and still today it hopefully remains same. The evening of that eventful day was celebrated with a cultural function where students used to take part and some famous singers were hired for performing songs. We students once staged a drama. So it was altogether a memorable event for everyone.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it was and is a government college, the fees structure was and is very less. Lab fees for science students were also very less. Many poor and meritorious students used to study here. even the hostel fees were very less so that many students who came of poor economic back ground and came from distant places never faced any problem while studying in this college.

Fees and Financial Aid

No. In my time I can't remember any such facility. I don't know how is the situation now. Hopefully with the introduction of different vocational courses there must be some good scholarships and loan facilities offered to students.

Campus Life

4

The Campus life was really very impressive. Talking about gender ratio - the girls and boys percentage was almost same. The Lab facility was really good for science subjects. Specially the library was well stocked and the seminar room also provided us with a lot of scope to avail different books that really helped us a lot in our study.

Hostel Facilities

4

In my time the hotel facility was very good. Many poor and meritorious students used to study here. The hostel fees were very less so that many students who came of poor economic back ground and came from distant places never faced any problem while studying in this college. Later on one more bigger hostel was constructed to accommodate more students.

Alumni/Alumna

I am not linked with any alumni network. Having been detached with the place and compelled to stay outstation, I hardly get scope to reunite with my college pals and relive the bygone days.

Exam Structure

The College follows the exam structure of Barasat State Uniiversity. When I was a student of this college, I enjoyed part one and part two exam for my honours course. The Honours course consisted of 800 marks and Pass course consisted of 600 marks. Part one consisted of 400 marks of Hons subject and 600 marks of Pass subject and 100 marks of compulsory english/ Bengali.

Admission

Applicants had to sit for a selection test which was conducted by the college. It was a 50 marks paper and I managed to complete the paper. It took so far I can remember one week to publish the result of the selection test and out of almost 80 candidates 16 were chosen in my year. I got 7th rank and It was a moment of joy to get the admission.

Faculty

4

The teachers were really great people. Highly qualified and treated the students with intense care. Being only 16 in the class, every student used to get individual help from the teachers. I can still remember Namita Madam for her incomparable way of teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I used to read so many novels from my childhood and that inspired me in getting attracted to this field. We used to have the fecility of having seminar in the end of every month after compleating of each lessons. And this process helped us in true education. After every year professors from differnt parts of the country used to come for a seminer for overall groth of the students. Actually is theory teaching style is followed in the college, according to me some developments in the practical teaching can be used. Semister is held at the end of every six months and the exams are used to be moderate in nature.
