Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose Mechanical Engineering to pursue from D.E.I, and the faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:20.The best point about Dayalbagh Educational Institute is its faculty itself as most of the faculty is highly qualified with multiple papers, research, etc. Going on not only that but most of the faculty are gold medalists of their own colleges. Thus, there has never been any doubt in the quality of teaching. The teaching method is quite good too as it involves daily tests and assignments along with two mid-sems before the finals thus creating a good environment for studying. All exams are done on the already set dates as the calendar is made at the start of the year and I have not seen any details in my 4-year term. Papers end up being not so difficult after so many tests and mid-sems.

Placement Experience

1.5

Campus placement opportunities are fewer in comparison to other colleges and during my placements, the Covid lockdown was their thus bringing our placements to a complete null. Usually, the placements start after the compulsory CO-OP training which is one of the good features of the college, and it's done through the TPO department of the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are nearly negligible in comparison to what other colleges have to offer. (you end up spending more on fuel if you are a local student and fees never increase as it only saw a hike of 500 rupees in the last few years ). Many scholarships are available as the college is Government funded, but they vary according to gender and reserved class. Campus Jobs are a little on the down low but there are few opportunities which have been created for new students.

Campus Life

2.5

Life at campus is not exactly what college students expect as a uniform is what everyone wears, and interaction with other faculties is a bit less. Amenities are not new as the college is 100 years old but it is well maintained. Sports and clubs are available according to your interests but are operated by the student groups.

Admission

The application process for DEI starts in January of every year and all the applications are done through the online portal for each faculty available there for not more than 100 rupees. Application for the engineering department is done through the Faculty of Engineering. The basic prerequisite for applying is to have done 12th from PCM and have IIT mains score( having IIT ADVANCE score always helps) after the application is done. Students are sorted according to their profile for personal Interviews followed by a medical test after which the last merit list is given. The admission process can be improved by making the online platform better as the dates for the application process are fixed and the college itself is quite strict with clarity in the process but the website does get a huge traffic during the admission days creating a lag on the site. Thus some work needs to be done.

The campus placement is very good in this college. In my own CSE branch there is good placement package you can get. But in this year due to recession the placements is less in IT section but still placement is going on and top package has crossed 35LPA. During previous years top package was around 44LPA and average was 10-12 LPA . Also in other branches like Chemical engineering and mechanical engineering, the placement is at its best of 100% always.
