Remarks
The university used to maintain the greenery all over the college. I think it is a good thing to have a pleasant environment around you.
Entrance Preview
You need to take an entrance exam called GAT (Gitam Aptitude Test) to get into the university. I did some research prior to the entrance about the college through my seniors, family friends, and acquaintances. There is no interview process. I chose Computer Science and Engineering as I am passionate about the advancements in the technology. I am about to pursue my Masters in Computer Science as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Curriculum was good when I entered the college. But it is much better for the juniors as they can select from the vast courses which are available in the newly designed curriculum. The university offers many research options. In my sophomore year, I helped my professor for his research in Bioinformatics.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the college did provide an internship pairing up with the state government. You can even go outside the campus and try other interns as well.
Placement Experience
The placements were great. I think more than 75% people got placed. TCS, Accenture, Microsoft, Tech Mahindra, Deloitte etc. These were the big companies. There were other companies as well which would offer jobs as BPO's as well. The package varies from company to company. I would say it is around 4-5 lakhs per annum.
College Events
GUSAC, TICES, ACM, IEEE's fests. The fests were pretty big. Most guests would be from Tollywood and some inspirational speakers from TEDx.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee is a bit high now. But according to the grades given by NAAC and the infrastructure, the fee does not bother you much. As per my knowledge, the tuition fee right now is 2.25L per annum. You can always visit the website(www.gitam.edu) and check the fee structure.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college used to provide scholarship for those people with good grades throughout the semester.
Hostel Facilities
I was a resident of the hostel. We used to share a room among three people. I think that is a good idea to do so. You can interact with people from various states from all over India. You can have much fun that way. Yes, they do offer PGs. I used to pay around seven thousand rupees for the living. It includes the electric bill, water tax, Wi-fi charge, mess, cleaning. I never did complain about the food through my entire B.tech life. The food was great. The mess used to be clean from time to time. If you are a non-vegetarian, they'd give us chicken for three days in a week and two eggs for the other two days. With the non-vegetarian card, you can even have vegetarian meals.
Exam Structure
The mid-term exams used to be short and sweet. In just three days, we used to finish our exams. There were only two lab exams and those were of three hours each. One who've done well in the lab sessions can easily crack the lab exams.
Faculty
Most of the professors hold a decent degree and lots of experience. They interact very much. Even after classes, we used to meet our faculty for some more extracurricular activities. The standard is also pretty good.
