Course Curriculum Overview
Faculty members are prodigies in their fields of study. They are well-read and completed their graduation from very reputed foreign universities. The curriculum needs to be updated with necessary changes and modifications. Guest faculties should be carefully chosen.
Placement Experience
The placements are really good. One can easily get more than Rs. 15 lacs per annum. Median CTC is around 20 lacs per annum. So the return on investment a student makes is quite glamorous. Many top and aspiring brands like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc. visit the campus.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are usually hiked by 10% every year. There is a need-based scholarship for the students. But the college never gives an update on the same even after an official notification is sent before getting the applications from the students. Also, SC/ST students get a 50% fee waiver.
Campus Life
More than fests, there will be a lot of seminars and guest lectures. More often than not, these sessions would bore you but you have to sit through it to not get a piece of their minds from placement committee members. The seminars are knowledgeable. Books are available in the library.
Hostel Facilities
Gents have a single room while ladies have a shared room. However, ladies' rooms have attached bathrooms. But that's not the case with boys' hostels. The fees are much more reasonable. Nonetheless, the bathrooms and toilets are pathetic as they are used by everyone.
Admission
IIFT Kolkata is a dream place to study MBA. Especially, the specialization in International Business is a unique selling point. The admission process is very competitive and exhaustive. One can avail of reservation benefits if he/she falls under any of the categories stipulated by the Government of India. NTA currently conducts the entrance examination. Hopefully, they will be changed and TCS conducts the examination just like they conduct for CAT and other competitive exams.
Interview Experience
There was no group discussion. Later, the written ability test was also scrapped due to technical reasons. A lion's share of the selection component went to personal interviews during my time. Even now PI has the biggest weightage in admission selection.
