Likes

Good placement records even for the core branches.
Sports and cultural events are also taken care of.
the infrastructure, that is, the newly built academic building.

Dislikes

75 percent attendance criteria is being followed.
some of the labs are not in proper condition.
few of the professors are very backdated.

Course Curriculum Overview

The academics are really good and taken seriously by the institute. The professors are well-qualified and experienced. In each semester there are two evaluation assessments, that is, mid-semester and end-semester examinations.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are quite good here. Once one has entered their third year they become eligible for internship opportunities provided by the college. Many renowned companies have given internships to the students of our college in the past years.

Placement Experience

The placement scenario is good for all branches. Not only non-core branches, but even the core branches also have 100 percent placement records. In the current year, the Mechanical branch had a 10 lakh average package and 8 lakh as the median.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since NIT Jamshedpur is a government college, the fee structure is very nominal as compared to private engineering colleges. Also, students can avail of fee remission based on their family incomes, which can remit a minimum of 2/3rd of the course fee if the family income is less than 5 lakhs and the full course fee if the income is below 1 lakh.

Campus Life

The campus life is pretty decent. Sports fests, cultural events, and technical events are conducted regularly. Other than academics there are many other clubs and teams inside the college in which students may engage for their overall development.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel facility is excellent as boys get single occupancy rooms from the second year onwards and double occupancy rooms for the first year. Girls get triple occupancy rooms. The mess food is good. It includes meals for four times during the day.

Hostel Fee: INR 31500 per year

Admission

The admission is taken on the basis of JEE Main score. Once the results are declared, one has to apply for the colleges through Jossa counseling by selecting the colleges according to their choice and they will get the one they are eligible for as per their jee main ranks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

A Genuine Review

Placement Experience:

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

I applied for NIT Raipur NIT Durgapur and NIT prayagraj I selected this college NIT Jamshedpur because it has top class placement and the branch I was getting as mechanical engineering which is a decent branch. I got rejected from NIT prayagraj due to little less rank . The admission process of my colleges you have to qualify JEE mains with around 95 percentile to get any branch as a general student then you have to go for Josaa counselling in which you will be a lot at the seat . I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment.
