What Students Say

Likes

The annual fest Culfest which is organised in a wide scale.
The sports facility here is very great with very talented students.
Huge hostel and the grand Diamond Jubilee Lecture Hall.

Dislikes

The campus is quite far from the main city of Jamshedpur.
The college has not utilised much of its area.
The library of campus is quite old and not well maintained.

Course Curriculum Overview

The courses here are very well structured. The faculty members once become familiar treated as their family members and are always ready to help in any manner be it academics or personal issue. All the faculty members are qualified from the IITs and are now researching sideways.

Internships Opportunities

Nit Jamshedpur has a good track record of internship opportunities. Mostly the circuital branch gets summer internships from Coinbase etc. Students who are into a technical team get quite a benefit from them.

Placement Experience

Nit Jamshedpur is known for its college campus placements. Even the lower branches like civil and metallurgy and production branch have very pleasing placement statistics. Many big companies like Microsoft, Atlassian, and the enormous Tata Steel show interest in Nit Jamshedpur.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of NITs all over India is the same. Even a poor kid can afford it. All NITs also have a provision of fee remission where students whose income is less than 1lakh get full fee remission where as those whose lies between 1to5 lakh get two-third remission.

Campus Life

The campus is full of greenery and it's a lush green campus. The lecture hall is completely air conditioned. Food stalls like Nescafe and other canteens are available. Well-equipped lab equipment is also available. Many technical as well as cultural clubs are there which help in personal development and exploring oneself.

Admission

Admission to the undergraduate programs is made on the performance in class 12/equivalent qualifying examination and in the JEE (Main). The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) / Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) allocates the seats for Under Graduate Programmes through the Common Counseling process. Nit Jamshedpur can be grabbed by getting at least 90 percentile for a general candidate.

Overall Review of NIT Jamshedpur

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

According to my perspective or point of view students initiate preparing for placement cells in 3rd year ( 5th semester). The highest package of our college is 14 LPA And average package is 3.4 LPA. Approx 72 %students got placed in different different companies like tcs, wipro, accenture etc.

A Genuine Review

Placement Experience:

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

I applied for NIT Raipur NIT Durgapur and NIT prayagraj I selected this college NIT Jamshedpur because it has top class placement and the branch I was getting as mechanical engineering which is a decent branch. I got rejected from NIT prayagraj due to little less rank . The admission process of my colleges you have to qualify JEE mains with around 95 percentile to get any branch as a general student then you have to go for Josaa counselling in which you will be a lot at the seat . You have to score at least 75% in class 12th board to get admission ....Read More

I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment.
