Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is quite engaging and hectic with about 7 subjects and 3 labs per sem in 1st year. The faculty are mostly strict with attendance requirements. But there are helpful faculty as well.

Internships Opportunities

The internships offered here are great, both summer internships as well as the 6-month ones. Many good companies offer internships here. Though I don't have experience of internship as of now, the seniors definitely have told me good things about this.

Yes, this is the strength of this college, the placements. This year's average package offered was 15.98 LPA. Many great companies visited the campus. About 97-98% of students got placed and the average package was 83.4 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is quite nominal with 214000/yr and there are fee remission policies as well for the not-so-financially strong students. There are a number of scholarships as well which you can claim easily.

Campus Life

The cultural fest here is called cult fest while the sports fest is urja. They are held at a good scale, though somewhat affected by covid in recent years. The technical fest is called Ojass and it has no. of events in different technical domains.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel facilities are quite lousy ngl. But they are improving, the hostel themselves are very good but needs more maintenance. The mess is as good as any other mess. But the hostel is very affordable.

Hostel Fee: INR 32000 per year

Admission

The process of getting into this college is JEE mains in which you have to score according to your desired branch. I did not avail of any reservation benefits, but my colleagues have and they are pretty helpful in getting admitted here.

Overall Review of NIT Jamshedpur

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

A Genuine Review

Placement Experience:

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

I applied for NIT Raipur NIT Durgapur and NIT prayagraj I selected this college NIT Jamshedpur because it has top class placement and the branch I was getting as mechanical engineering which is a decent branch. I got rejected from NIT prayagraj due to little less rank . The admission process of my colleges you have to qualify JEE mains with around 95 percentile to get any branch as a general student then you have to go for Josaa counselling in which you will be a lot at the seat . I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment.
