What Students Say

Likes

I like the infrastructures,gym centre,canteen etc.
There are lots of courses available in our college like pass course at any science or arts subjects as well as honours courses in those subjects.
I like the teachers how they friendly are.

Dislikes

I don't like behaviour of the student union members
The fees structure is little bit high than the other colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

There is faculty: student ratio of about 5:200. The facilities are highly qualified and some are studied from abroad. The faculties are very friendly to us and their teaching methods are really good and use lots of examples while teaching. The exams are conducted regularly. There is not much difficulty to pass the exams.

Class Size: 600Course Fees: INR 1430 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure includes laboratories fees, electricity fees, library fees, gym fees, parking fees, canteen fees, etc. Students can apply for scholarships provided by the state government. The name of the scholarship is Aykashree / Swami Vivekananda Scholarship.

Campus Life

The college and students union togetherly conduct fresher party,swarsati puja, annual sports function, and the great annual fest. The annual fest is conducted in December. There are lots of books available at the library. Students can collect any books they want through their library card provided by the college. The general students can collect up to 2 books and the honors students can collect up to 3 books. There are 4 smart classrooms, lots of laboratories and the other classrooms are very comfortable and in the class rooms air conditioner is available. Extra curricular activities are also conducted by the college and the student union like clearing the drainage, planting beside the street, awareness of the local people about dengue, etc.

Admission

There is nothing such as eligibility for admission in this college, students only should be High Secondary passed. Students can apply for admission through the online process as well as the offline process. And the verification process runs through only the offline process. Application fees for B. A passed course is 1430 rupees. And the online admission process runs very smoothly.

Placement Experience:

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

Placement Experience:

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

My experience at St. Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

We have a placement cell helping students get placed. They keep posting opportunities like internships and fellowships throughout the year to groom students and give them exposure and experience.
