Wonderful College to study dentistry

The college is pretty good. Every facility is provided like ATM, Ac rooms, games complex etc. The infrastructure and the location attracted me the most. The method of teaching is also to a next level. Proper classrooms, laboratories, OPD etc helps to get us more involved. The college management is always concerned about the students betterment. The college has a very friendly and social environment.

The college takes admission on the basis of your National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) score. SDCH is a national brand not only due to professionalism but also due to its location and infrastructure. These things made me opt this college. There is no separate admission process or any interview round. I opted for BDS as it was my ambition to become a doctor and the course perfectly aligned with my interest.

The first day I attended the lectures and practical classes I was spell bound by the quality of teaching faculty as well as the well equipped and modern infrastructure of the college. Though we had long lectures and even longer practical classes, each class was enjoyable and enhanced our knowledge about the brand new subjects. The laboratories are well equipped with the latest equipments and instruments and is very well furnished. The college has 150 bedded General Government Hospital for giving live demo on patients to BDS students studying general medicine & general surgery.

Yes college provides 1 year mandatory internship. They teach everything to the students during the internship period. As a first year student, I cannot apply for the internship now but I got to know that the internship provided is good. The stipend is Rs 1500 per month. The stipend is reduced as per the leave taken by the student.

There is very less placement as of now but the institute itself provides placement to some of the graduates of BDS or MDS of the college. They provide job to students who scored well or who topped in their particular field.

An annual college fest Jaltrang is organised by the college. It is a 4-5 day event comprising of all sports, cultural and managerial events. The college organises every event in the college very nicely and on a very large scale.

The fees structure of the institute as compared to other medical colleges is much affordable. The Tuition fees per annum is 2.15 lakhs. The Hostel fees including the mess is 1.30 lakhs. There are no surplus hidden charges like in other medical colleges.

SDCH promotes the scholarship activities of its students and faculty and encourage their development as scholars in dental education technologies. The Institute is committed to organize value based student/teacher exchange program to broaden the scope of their individual capabilities in the field of education and patient care. Loan facilities are not provided by the college .

The college offers various sports and extra curricular activities to the students. Sporting activities like court games & swimming are particularly encouraged in keeping with all-round student development. They have the Olympic standard indoor swimming pool along with Health Club. The infrastructure for the extracurricular activities is great.

Yes, I live in the hostel. There are single and twin sharing rooms in the hostel and are pretty good. 24 hrs water supply is available. There is free wifi, common halls with TV and many more things for hostellers. Yes PGs are also available. The hostel charges including mess is 65 thousands. Food is nice and a proper healthy diet is given daily. The mess menu is decided by teachers and students. The menu keeps changing according to students demand.

I am not in contact of any Alumni as it is my first year but I know that many Alumni do come to the college regularly and take guest lectures and teach about the latest advancement in technologies.

The Exams pressure is not too much. Like every other college exams are conducted on quarterly basis. The total evaluation of the student is based on the theory as well as on the practical. Even the attendance and other things also matter. I am not much good in theory but I like practicals so I easily score in them.

The aim and mission of SDCH is to provide the best dental education to the youth at par with international standards and not at all a commercial money spinning institution. Thus the faculties here are at par to other dental colleges. They are highly qualified doctors all with MDS or Phd degrees with them. They are very supportive and interactive. Though I am a first year student, still I got a chance to interact with some very well known and qualified doctors who come to our college for guest lectures or some practicals. Teaching standard is very good and teachers with their utmost skill and care bridged us and explained us the difference between school and a professional college. Our classes for the first day proceeded with friendly manner, where all the teachers were introduced and we were highly elated to be in the safe hands of such great teachers.
