Remarks

You want to live a life of solitude, fed up of your life? come join this institution. You'll have no interaction with outside things. Since it is situated outside the city, you don't have any transport facility other than college bus. you can just spend time watching scenery and passing your college days without doing anything.

Entrance Preview

I wrote the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Karnataka Board while I just finished my Second Year Pre-University College. I got to know about the college from a friend and it was a new one. Ours was the first batch in it. There was no interview process since it was their first batch, they needed students to join in large number. I had chosen Mechanical Engineering because of my passion in it. The Various basic science concepts it had, drove me towards it.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The subjects in the course all through my 4 years were versatile and had lot of options to make it interdisciplinary. Coming to practical learning, Since ours was the first batch and the mechanical machines costs really high, there were only 1 equipment and machinery of a kind and we were 10 people in the branch and all of us had to to do in that. It was a bit tough and the institution made practicals for the sake of exams (just for marks) but we managed to finish it in the easiest way possible than other colleges. But now they have shipped in enough number of machines. Coming to research initiatives, during our final year project, they provided research centres with all equipment needed for our projects which helped us to come up with our own ideas instead of buying any. The electives were also decided by us and not pressurized by lecturers. It was fun. we even managed to change the elective in the middle of the semester and the professors were very cooperative.

Internships Opportunities

College didn't provide any internships on their own. But several startups managed to stop by and explained about their companies and those internships were not paid. Only 2 firms came to offer internships as I recollect and both of them didn't offer any stipend.

Placement Experience

1

I agree our college striving hard to place each one of us. But no proper companies used to come and hardly 2% of the batch including all the branches were placed. But they were constantly notifying students about campus pool drives. Once they also called for a job mela at our place to attract more companies and students from other college to ours. The average package was some where around 2 to 3 lakh per annum but since ours was a new college you could expect about placements.

College Events

1

College wasn't taking any initiatives for conducting any fests. We used to gather and come up with ideas ourselves and organise technical, cultural fests but the college was willing to sponsor it with everything needed. They wanted to wind it up as cheap as possible. They were like average school's annual day, not so big. Well nobody was interested in attending those considering students too. Hardly 100 people were gathering for these fests. Contribution of the organisation was very less in this.

Fee Structure And Facilities

People who write CET get seats in different categories. I belong to General Caste. But since our annual income was less than 2.5 lakhs (Now it can be till 4.5 lakhs per annum), I was eligible for the Supernumerary quota (5% of seats allotted under this) where the CET fee was just Rs. 3,090/- (Others should pay 50,000/-). My college fee was also affordable which was 8,000/- in the first year and then 10,000/- in the second and 12,000/- in the last two years. Also my college is situated 40 km from my home, I had to travel by college bus which was 18000/- yearly. So totally it was 8,000 + 10,000 + 12,000x2years + 3090 + 18000x4years which is Rs. 1,17,090/- which is so cheap when compared to other colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

College gave away many scholarships based on many aspects. Based on family background (E.g military personnel's son/daughter, farmer's son/daughter, if the student was the son/daughter of any faculty of the institution etc.) and also provided separate incentives based on performance in tests and attendance to all tests conducted. Also toppers branch wise and all branch put together went up to 15000/-. One or two sponsors can be mentioned who provided scholarships for the toppers.

Campus Life

3.5

Too poor. We hardly got any time to play or for recreational activities. Our college didn't have proper ground to play. No sport except cricket was played. There were Table tennis, carrom, chess too but for exhibition. We were not given time to play. Poor facilities and they never cared to send the students for intercollegiate events nor they notified anything about it.

Hostel Facilities

2

I used to travel by college bus. But I knew everything about hostel. Our hostel rooms were really bad and the juniors used to complain about it frequently. Till my final year there were lots of issues with the hostel but at my final year the administration were finally able to find a place with good facilities with good food but it was situated far from college so the hostilites also used to travel by college bus. The romms were sharing 2 and 3 peopel sharing. There were several private PG's nearby. The cost of the hostel was 55000/- per year including the cost of the food. There were problems with the quality of the food but by the time I was graduating, everything was settling and the food was also good.

Alumni/Alumna

We are the first batch passed out. So yet to come up with all the network. But we are not so keen on interacting with any students.

Exam Structure

Theory exams were normal like in other colleges. When it came to labs, as I had said earlier, for the Mechanical engg branch there were hardly any machines. So they just pushed every exam without any proper valuation of our practical skills. They were the easiest ones and used to get good marks even though we did nothing at the time of exams. We used to rarely conduct any experiment.

Faculty

3.5

Our college was founded by a person named Dr. Udaya Kumar who has a great experience in many of the top colleges like Ambedkar IT, MSRIT, BNMIT, where he worked as professor and principal. He had various contacts with professors and so he was able to gather many experienced professor with 10 to 39 years of experience from top most colleges under VTU. Each department had experienced professor from colleges like RVCE, REVA, Vemana, MSRIT, BNMIT, DON Bosco and many more. Other M.Tech passed faculties were also there. Since they had recently passed out and also held a good rapport with students it went well. Every teacher were like friends and they wanted the students to perform well and make the Institution grow faster. They were very supportive all the time.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th sem. The highest on campus package this year was around 64 LPA, while as far as I know, the top 20% of the students usually get offers in the 16-24LPA range. The overall placement rate is good, but results depend a lot on your skills and practice

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am a tech-enthusiast and chip designing is something i have been keen to know about and hence i went in for ECE Course. The curriculum is just same as the other engineering colleges. Detailed enough to pass the semester end exams. Teaching methods and the equipments need to be changed. Its high time. While other colleges are using well designed new technologies for lab experiments, ours is still stuck on the old methods which is very frustrating as we dont receive accurate results that affects our performance.
