Remarks

I would say that the infrastructure has improved to a benchmark. There are several plans to take it to a certain level. But the management is still sluggish like a govt. institute. They should develop the management system further,

Entrance Preview

As a Bangladeshi citizen, I wanted to study in India with a scholarship. So after completing my 12th standard I applied through High commission of India, Dhaka for The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship. I passed an English proficiency exam in ordered to be qualified. After qualification the high commission conducted a interview on why i want the scholarship and my choice of subject. After a satisfactory performance in the interview, the high commission forwarded our applications to New Delhi ICCR and they chose the universities by our performance/merit basis.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course curriculum was designed to be a professional in Electrical & Electronics field. It was planned in 8 semesters and in each semester we had 5/6 related subjects and 3 labs to enhance our practical knowledge. Campus Life

4.5

As one of the top NIT's in India, It was a privilege studying in NIT Jamshedpur. I experienced a diverse environment with students from all corners of India. There was a great diversity in foreign national too as there many people from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and NRI's from different places such as Bahrain, Singapore, Oman, Dubai and so on. There was a 10/4 sex ratio in the collage. I had a mixed experience as things changed a lot over the past four years. But i'm grateful to the institute for the degree and changing me to a responsible person who i'm today.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

In 2012 when i first went to the college our hostel was in poor condition. Three persons shared a room where we had inadequate light one fan and the condition of the shared bathroom was unbearable. It was a poor infrastructure with poor facilities. But with time things changed. After the arrival of our current director things improved a lot under his supervision. During his period, he managed to change the tiles, bathroom, more wall fan was added in the rooms, new windows and so on. But the most important fact was 2 mega hostels were constructed having seven storied buildings, which stays head high in Jamshedpur.

Alumni/Alumna

NIT Jamshedpur has a vast alumni network across the world. Several of my Banlgadeshi seniors are well settled in Sewden, Australia, US and Canada. Many of the Indian nationals are placed in top companies across India and abroad. The Alumni Meet held every year increases the interaction between alumnus and the current students.

Exam Structure

Our course is completed in 8 semesters. Each semester is having two class tests carrying 20 marks each. The final term end exam is of 40 marks and the rest 20 marks consists of teachers assessment and attendance each having 10 marks each. Each labs were of 100 marks. Out of the 100 marks we had to submit assignments, practical lab work and attendance count. The class tests were conducted in each month to test our theoretical knowledge. The End semester exams were most stressful as it was conducted on whole syllabus and in almost 1 week the whole semester exam of 5/6 courses were held.

Admission

On late July I received my offer letter of a full-free scholarship by ICCR to study B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering in National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. After my acceptance of the offer the Indian high commission gave me a visa to peruse my studies. After my departure from Bangladesh i directly reported to ICCR Kolkata branch and they ensured my admission letter to my college. I had also received a three month scholarship allowance in order to be settled in my college. Then i arrived at NIT Jamshedpur and the college authority took care of my admission and my hostel residence.

Faculty

4.5

I would describe the faculty of our college as professional, friendly and encouraging. When i started my classes in first semester i had trouble understanding Hindi as i was a foreign student. My teachers helped me a lot getting through the course syllabus and understanding the topics with a clear idea. My 'Basic Circuit Theory' course teacher and my branch adviser Mrs. Rekha helped me a lot getting through the situation. Besides that in my other activities such as getting through my admission, scholarship activity she helped me a great deal.
