What Students Say
Likes
- The most attractive thing about JEC is its greenery. The whole campus is surrounded by plants, trees etc.
- I like the way it is well organized with its respective apartments and different labs are provided for a single subject (different topics)
Dislikes
- Its infrastructure is too old fashioned
- No proper fun events or fests are conducted here. College life is kind of boring.
Course Curriculum Overview
I took this course because of my inclination towards AI and its rapidly growing opportunities. Faculty to student ratio is about 1:80 Most of the professors have specialization in the subject they teach. Many of them hold PhD degrees whereas some of them have done masters in their specific subject. Most of them are from well-known colleges. There is a shortage of faculty tho. Mid-sems don't follow a specific schedule but end-sems are conducted as specified in the academic timetable (annual). One only needs to solve the previous year's questions of about 5 years in order to pass with a decent SGPA/CGPA (About 7+).
Placement Experience
Placements hold a marvellous record. Even a book named "The Golden Book of JEC" is run and published by JEC students holding records and achievements of notable alumni of JEC. The highest package was 50 lakhs whereas the mode is about 3 lakhs. Average lies between 4-6 lakhs. I have planned to either try for on or off-campus placement but in case I don't get a satisfactory one then I would do some short-term courses from either Pune or Bangalore
Fees and Financial Aid
JEC is the cheapest college of MP and one of the cheapest colleges in the whole of India. Last year the fees were about 25k per annum which has been extended to 28k this year. I applied for a national-level scholarship called MMVY (Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidhyarthi Yojna) and now all my tuition fees would be paid by the government itself.
Campus Life
The campus is about 255 acres. A separate department is allotted to each branch accompanied by an Admin block (for student help, documentation and classes for first-year students), a separate department for innovation, sports and workshops. Recently a sports fest called "AAVAHAN" was conducted followed by a musical evening. Moreover, we have a literature club(litC), dance club (dance on), music club (raag), art club and 3 technical clubs including GDSC
Admission
For being eligible for the course one should necessarily have PCM subject in his 12th. The seat allotment is done via MP DTE counselling and so one needs to visit its official website and register for counselling The seat is allotted on the basis of JEE mains result. The cut goes about 94-96 percentile for general/OBC male candidates to get CS in JEC. For AIADS it is around 90. Seats are reserved for girls in all government colleges of MP and so the cut-off goes comparatively lower.
